Woman says nails hammered in private parts by assailants, four held

Chandigarh, July 28 (IANS): Four people, including two women, have been arrested after a woman in Rohtak town in Haryana said they assaulted her and hammered nails into her private parts, police sources said Monday.

The woman alleged that two men, and their wives, abducted and assaulted her and her husband over a petty dispute.

She said the accused hammered nails into her private parts. The woman was admitted to a hospital in Rohtak Sunday.

Alleging that the incident took place a week back, the woman said she was kept in illegal confinement.

Following her complaint, police registered a case against the four people for wrongful confinement, abduction, criminal intimidation and passing casteist remarks.

However, police said the woman had alleged rape against both men - identified as Rohtash and Phool Kumar - in April this year but an investigation revealed that the allegations were not true.

The same woman had, in 2008, levelled allegations of rape against a youth also.

The youth later committed suicide even though the allegations were found baseless, police said.

"The woman has a case pending since 2012 against her for immoral trafficking. She had even got a case registered against her husband under the Dowry Act," a police officer said.
