2G: Final arguments in Essar, Loop case Nov 20

New Delhi, Sep 15 (IANS): A court here hearing the 2G spectrum case against Essar Group and Loop Telecom promoters Monday set Nov 20 for hearing final arguments in the matter.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge O.P. Saini fixed Nov 20 for commencing the final argument in the case after concluding recording of statement of defence witnesses.

A third set of charges filed by the CBI in the 2G case alleged that Essar Group promoters were the real investors and beneficiaries of the spectrum and licences were issued to Loop Telecom, which was used as a front company by Essar to acquire 2G licences and spectrum in 2008. This has been denied by the accused.

In a separate case against former telecom minister A. Raja and others, the court Sep 10 concluded the recording of statement of defence witnesses and posted the matter for hearing final arguments Nov 10.
