Dubai, Sep 18 (IANS): An Indian expatriate is facing trial for drug peddling in Bahrain, a media report said Thursday.
The unnamed man, 25, was arrested in an undercover police operation earlier this year after he tried to sell 130 Bahraini dinars (about $355) worth of Ecstasy drugs to a police official, the Gulf Daily News reported.
The police then raided his flat in Riffa city and found undisclosed quantities of LSD and Ecstasy.
The man, who worked as a driver, has been standing trial at Bahrain's High Criminal Court, where he pleaded not guilty to drug dealing Wednesday.
"I was standing outside my flat in West Riffa and was surprised to see police approaching me," the report quoted the Indian driver as telling prosecutors.
"The drugs were for my personal use and I did not sell them to anyone," he contended.
The trial will continue Oct 14.
