Mysore, Oct 7:  The Annual Thanksgiving and Harvest festival will be held at St. Bartholomew's Church premises on Bangalore-Nilgiris Road here tomorrow from 9 am onwards.

Rev. Vincent Rajkumar, Presbyter CSI, St. Mark's Cathedral, Bangalore, will be the chief guest. Pastor Rev. Premkumar Soans will conduct the special mass.

About the Church

St. Bartholomew's Church is the oldest Church in Mysore, established in 1830. It caters to the spiritual and pastoral needs of its members. The congregation members are a mixture of different nationalities, cultures and languages, but with deep fellowship. The Church has various developmental projects and chalked out some plans and programmes for future.

The membership of the Church increased significantly, and the place was not sufficient enough to cater to its members. Hence, the Church undertook the major expansion work during the years 1993-94, mainly with the contribution of one month's salary by the members and other friends.

In 2005, when the Church celebrated its 175th anniversary, the walls and inside roofing were renovated.

Now, the existing Parish Hall Building (adjacent to the Church) built during 1985, is in a dilapidated state and needs restoration since Church activities like Sunday school, youths, women fellowship seminars, other meetings and social functions are held there.

Annual Thanksgiving and Harvest Festival is held to generate funds for the restoration of the Parish Hall, according to press release from the Hon. Secretary of the Church.
