Mumbai: Kalajagathu’s 35 anniversary ‘Rangotsava’ concludes

Mumbai, Nov 26: The 35th anniversary 'Rangotsava' programme by Thonse Vijayakumar Shetty founded Kalajagathu, held at Bantara Bhavana in Kurla east on Sunday, November 23, came to an end after splendid acting by Vijayakumar Shetty.

Sri Kshetra Kateel's genetic priest Vedamurthi Harinarayana Asranna lit the traditional lamp, blessed and set the programme in motion. Padmashree Dr B R Shetty, executive president of NMC Abu Dhabi group of companies was the chief guest. Rangotsava organizing committee president Aikala Harish Shetty presided over the programme.

Karnataka state former minister B Nagaraja Shetty, Rangotsava convener Ermal Harish Shetty, businessmen Sarvothama Shetty Abu Dhabi, Anand M Shetty of Organic plastics, Dharmapal U Devadiga, Suresh Shetty Ballary, senior litterateur Dr Sunitha M Shetty, Chinnara Bimba founder Prakash B Bhandary, leaders of different organizations Santhosh Shetty Pune, Shyama N Shetty, Dr Satyaprakash Shetty and journalist Chandrashekar Palethady were guests of honours.

V G Pal Mangalore, Bantara Sangha office bearers Prabhakara L Shetty, Ulthooru Mohandas Shetty, Mahesh S Shetty, Rathnakar Shetty Mundkoor and others were present as guests. They felicitated Bantara Sangha Mumbai president and patron of arts Karnire Vishwanatha Shetty on behalf of Kalajagathu and Ammachavadi associations. The guests also honoured child artistes of Kalajagathu Chinnarabimba who had won Dakshina Kannada district Rajyotsava congratulatory awards during
Karnataka Rajyotsava 2014.

“The far sightedness of Kalajagathu can be seen in its name. There is no other artiste like Thonse Vijayakumar Shetty who has devoted his life for arts. A unique celebration such as this is an example to the world. It was made possible due to selfless service of many. All the artistes in the motherland should be obedient towards such service to arts. All should support such talents”, said B R Shetty.

“Rangotsava of Kala Jagathu is a day of celebration for Tulu Kannadigas. Congratulations to all the artistes and organizers of the event. Bantara Sangha is an organization which has supported arts.
Vijayanna among them is a complete artiste. The felicitation to me in the programme is an honour to Bantara Sangha”, said Karnire Vishwanath.

Asranna, in his speech praised the extra ordinary talent of Vijaya Kumar and hoped that his talent be exhibited also in Rastrapathi Bhavan. He also wished him all the best in the future.

Aikala Harish Shetty in his presidential address said that the name of Vijayakumar Shetty is to be recorded in the history of Bunts. The recording of 60 acts of Vijayakumar Shetty for the Limca Book of Records is a matter of pride. He also congratulated Vijayakumar Shetty.

Pushkal Kumar Thonse and Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli compered the programme. Kala Jagathu Amma Chavadi convener Rathnakar A Shetty welcomed. Honorary secretary Krishnaraj Shetty, honorary treasurer S Prathviraj Mundkooru presented bouquets to the guests and felicitated them. Executive president Surendra Kumar Shetty read the letter of felicitation. Ashok Pakkala introduced the guests, compered the programme and proposed vote of thanks.

Kalajagathu founder Thonse Vijayakumar Shetty presented a drama and songs written and composed by him. He presented sixty different dances and created history in dramatics. Dr Vyasaraya Ninjooru, Dr Sridhar Shetty and journalist Dayasagar Chouta present on the occasion, helped in the recording for Limca book of world records.

Bhat, Megha S Hegde, Shreyas S Hegde, Darshan Shetty, Arun Shetty, Shreyas R Hegde, Hemanth Shetty, Satish Shetty Dolly, S Vijayalaxmi, Nithyananda Bhandary, Suresh Shetty, Sujatha Alva, Reshma Shetty and others helped in the various parts played by Vijayanna.

Lathish M Poojary, Harish Shetty, Shailaja M Shetty and others in Kala Saurabha group provided music throughout the programme under the direction of Padmanabha Sasihitlu. Dr Manjari Chandra's Srasti Nrathyakala Kuteera group, Meera Road kits, Jyotsna Devadiga Dombivli and Veena Suvarna Balaga presented attractive classical dances.
