Mumbai youth who joined ISIS returns home; grilled by NIA

Mumbai, Nov 28 (PTI): Twenty-three-year-old Arif Majeed from neighbouring Kalyan, who until now was believed to have been killed while fighting for ISIS in Syria, returned to Mumbai today and is being interrogated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) here.

In May this year, four youths from Kalyan town -- Arif Majeed, Shaheen Tanki, Fahad Shaikh and Aman Tandel -- had left India to visit holy places in the Middle East, but disappeared thereafter. They were suspected to have joined the middle-east terror group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Arif returned this morning and is being quizzed by the NIA, a police officer said.
His family friend Iftekhar Khan told PTI, "Arif's father Ejaz received a phone call from security agencies this morning saying his son is in Mumbai."

Maharashtra ATS, which had earlier questioned the family members of the youths, is also in touch with the NIA over the return of Arif to Mumbai, sources said.

According to police, the four engineering students flew to Baghdad on May 23 as part of a group of 22 pilgrims to visit religious shrines in Iraq.

The next day, Arif had called his family from Baghdad and apologised for having left without informing them. Upon returning to India, other pilgrims had told the police that, Arif, Fahad, Aman and Saheen had hired a taxi to Fallujah, a city west of Baghdad which had emerged as the epicentre of Iraq's deadly insurgency.

"On August 26, Tanki called up Arif's family and told them that their son had become a "martyr" claiming that the latter died fighting for ISIS in Syria," a family friend Ateek Khan had told reporters.

Accordingly the next day, Arif's family performed 'Janaza-e-gayabana' (prayers for the departed soul in absence of the body) in Kalyan.

Recently, Arif's father Ejaz Majeed had reportedly met the NIA and told them his son had fled from the IS-controlled areas to Turkey after fighting for the militant group for nearly three months and wants to return to India.

    Terrorism has no religion.

Once a terrorist stopped the car of a christian couple, and asked them if they are Muslim or not?
    Christian man: We are Muslim.
Terrorist: If you are a Muslim then recite a verse of the Quran.

Christian man recited a verse from the Bible.

Terrorist: Yeah! That was right. You are allowed to go.

"What a risk u took. Why did u tell him that we are Muslims? If he knew you are telling lie he would have killed both of us" asked the wife, when they got further.

The husband replied, "Don't worry. If they knew the Quran, they would not kill innocents."

    1. Youths are easy prey to those who brainwash and corrupt them.
    2. It is not only poor, even rich are also easily get brainwashed. Parents of these youth are rich.

    What is ISIS?

The Endgame Of The US ‘Islamic State’ Strategy

By Nicola Nasser
    11 November, 2014
Countercurrents.org

Dismantling what the former US President George W. Bush once described as the Syria – Iran component of the “axis of evil,” or interrupting in Iraq the geographical contiguity of what King Abdullah II of Jordan once described as the “Shiite crescent,” was and remains the strategic goal of the US – Israeli allies in the Middle East unless they succeed first in “changing the regime” in either Damascus or Tehran.

The US, Israel and their regional allies have been on the record that the final target of their “regime change” campaign in the Middle East was to dismantle the Syria – Iran alliance.

With the obvious failure of Plan A to dismantle the self- proclaimed anti-Israel and anti - US Syrian – Iranian “Resistance Axis” by a forcible “regime change” in Damascus, a US – led regional alliance has turned recently to its Plan B to interrupt in Iraq the geographical contiguity of that axis.

This is the endgame of President Barak Obama’s strategy, which he d on last September 10 as ostensibly against the Islamic State (IS).

This would at least halt for the foreseeable future all the signed and projected trilateral or bilateral Iranian, Iraqi and Syrian pipeline networks to carry oil and gas from Iran and Iraq to the Syrian coast at the Mediterranean.

Israeli Col. (res.) Shaul Shay, a research associate at the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies and a former Deputy Head of the Israel National Security Council anticipated in writing on last January 21 what he called the “Salafi Crescent” that is dangerously emerging to challenge the “Shia Crescent.”

“The growing involvement of Sunni Salafi jihadis in Iraq (since 2003), among the rebels in Syria (since 2011), and in Lebanon has created a ‘Salafi Crescent’ … from Diyala [in eastern Iraq] to Beirut,” he wrote.

“A positive outcome” of this Salafi Crescent “will be the decline in Iranian influen
