LPG rate cut by Rs 113, jet fuel prices by 4.1 per cent

New Delhi, Dec 1 (PTI): Price of non-subsidised cooking gas (LPG) was today cut by a steep Rs 113 per cylinder and that of jet fuel (ATF) by 4.1 per cent as international oil rates slumped to multi-year lows.

A 14.2-kg cylinder of non-subsidised LPG will now cost Rs 752, down from Rs 865 previously, in Delhi, oil companies announced today.

This is the fifth straight reduction in rates of non-subsidised or market priced LPG, which the customers buy after exhausting their quota of 12 cylinders at subsidised rates, since August.

In five monthly reduction, non-domestic LPG rates have been slashed by Rs 170.5 per cylinder, bringing the price at three-year lows.

On similar lines, the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF), or jet fuel, at Delhi was cut by Rs 2,594.93 per kilolitre, or 4.1 per cent, to Rs 59,943 per kl. This is the fifth straight monthly reduction in rates.

This reduction follows a steep 7.3 pr cent or Rs 4,987.7 per kl, cut in prices on November 1.

Since August, ATF prices have been cut by 14.5 per cent or Rs 10,218.76 per kl and rates have dipped below Rs 60,000 per kl level for the first time in three years.

Brent, the benchmark grade for more than half of the world's oil, have dropped to USD 68.34 a barrel, the lowest level since October 2009. Prices declined 18 per cent last month and are 38 per cent lower in 2014.

In Mumbai, jet fuel will cost Rs 61,695 per kl from today as against Rs 64,414.98 per kl previously. The rates vary because of differences in local sales tax or VAT.

    mr allen ,
being in dubai you dont know the current market rates pof tomato, potato, onions etc in india or you are still thninking the vegetable prices are same as during upa rule.

    prices during upa rule:

    onion-100rs
    tomato 80 rs
    potato-80rs

    current bangalore price:

    tomato price -31rs/kg
    potato-40 rsw/kg
    onion 32rs/kg

    in rest of india currently:

    tomato 10rs/kg
    potato-15 rs/kg
    onion-10 rs/kg

    do you know why?

bcoz karnataka govt has not reduced bus and transport fares even if deisel prices are low . so still vegeatable prices are high.

i know what is increased and decreased during UPA rule as well as BJP rule. and also sitting here in Abu Dhabi is much better rather sitting there with all type of communal mind set around. it is a pity and shame that despite having freedom in our country communal forces are spoiling or stopping people from doing what they want. here in Abu Dhabi despite being a muslim country people of other religions have freedom to do whatever they want but in the limit of law. i think in our country there are sick communal minded people who need treatment to learn how to live and let others live.
regarding price rise or other issues everybody knows how is the situation and what it will be soon.. and if you want to LOL u can do so.. i think you are used to LOL everytime...

Some blind BJP supporters will simply comment for the sake of commenting. actually globally price is declining so automatically prices have to be reduced.
during congress regime it was opposite. so govt. cannot pay everything from its pocket. people still like to compare without knowing the facts.simple mathematics.

The price reduction is not getting passed on to common man. The fares of bus, auto etc are same which need to be reduced proportionately. When the price of Petrol or diesel is raised to even Rs.1/-, the auto and taxi unions resort to strikes and demand fare increase. Why they are not talking of fare reduction now. It is time, the public to unite and demand their fair share. Also, the price of subsidized LPG should have been reduced further instead of non-subsidized cylinders as those who use non-subsidized cylinders can certainly afford to pay the extra sum

One of the biggest blunders of UPA was the cutting the subsidized cylinders to 9 from 12 and increasing LPG cylinders rates every quarterly. In Mangalore, even muslim housewives came to street to protest. Even then your LOOTERS GOVT did not realize.

Rahul Gandhi realized it after 5 state poll debacle in Dec-13 and made it 12 again. BUT HE WAS TOO LATE.

After NDA came to power, the prices have been decreased multiple times. PM is not responsible for the fall in prices. But what would had happen if the joker UPA Govt was still in power? Would we see the same thing? Look in Karnataka for example, there is Scamress Govt, and they have never reduced the bus ticket prices even though the fuel prices have been decreased repeatedly.

The main reason behind the plunge in the global oil prices is, US once the biggest oil importer has surpassed KSA in oil production and has become a net exporter, thanks to shale boom. The OPEC meet this November in Vienna failed to agree on cutting back on production to stabilize the prices. They have resolved to maintain the same production rates for next six months and let the prices plummet further counting on a possibility that US oil producers would find it uneconomical to produce oil at such low prices eventually and exit the scene.

Can anyone remember what did India achieve when the price went down to USD.10/= decades back??

Both India and countries such as US will tend to use more OPEC oil only to give chance for a higher price in the days ahead as these countries will relax without bothering to increase fuel efficiency, conservation, and cut the dependence on imported oil.

Solar and alternative energies will take back seat too.

We can only produce more electricity if we develop nuclear energy which is cheaper and faster than developing hydroelectric power etc. which is unreliable due to climate change and other political issues involved such as Cauvery issue.

I like the price wars.. I want per barrel price to be around $70....

One ISIS is screwing the rest of the countries like Saudi and Iraq by offloading their ill gotten oil in market and low price and getting funds for their terrorism activities..
.. secondly India is aligning with IRan for fuel, cos they unlike Saudi, want to deal with local currency and not based on fluctuating US dollars...

also, with $USD 70, india will save about 30biilion $ forex and will help cutting inflation and increase grwoth rate and price control.

however, one bad news is, India, will not think of investing in "alternative fuel and energy areas like Electric power generation, Wind power and solar power or electric vehciles and mass transport systems"..!!

the major jolt will be to Russia.. this is US game plan of geo political wars, cos, many oil wells are still in Russia and Russia depends on them too!! this is to cut Russia into size, which is not good in larger interest of India.. -) ...

but acche din toh for sure!
