Mangalore, Dec 14: Konkan Overseas Returnees Welfare Association (KORWA) shared the joyful season of Christmas with at least 500 children belonging to four different orphanages in a celebration held at Loyola Hall here on Saturday, December 13.

The children belonging to Infant Mary's Orphanage Centre, St Angela Home, Bejai, Prajna Counselling Centre and Jeevadhan, Gurpur - Kaikamba not only enjoyed the celebration but also performed dances and enacted meaningful skits on this happy occasion.

Their acts were highly appreciated by all who were present. The KORWA Christmas celebration also included dance and music by professionals as an added attraction. Bollywood dance performance by Aryans Troupe and the live music by Blues Angels Padva and Anita D'Souza and Group was thoroughly enjoyed by the children. Santa Claus arrived much to the surprise and excitement of all the children.

MLC Ivan D’Souza said, "Orphans are god's children. God is helping them through other people. The true meaning of Christmas lies in sharing the joy of the festival with the less fortunate people of the society.

"This is a beautiful programme. Christmas is not just a family festival, but should reach other people, especially the poor. I compliment the organizers for hosting this wonderful programme. We spend lot of money on Christmas. But what we give to the less privileged is important,” he further said.

Rohan Monteiro of Rohan Corporation and other donors were felicitated on the occasion.

President of KORWA Louis lobo welcomed Elias Sanctis proposed vote of thanks. Fr Melwyn Mendonca, NRI entrepreneur Pascal Pinto shared the dais during the formal programme.

Reena D’Souza and Vaibhav D’Souza hosted the show.

At least 500 children had a wonderful day full of joy and activities. Christmas is coming, indeed a special time and these children who live in orphanages, left their everyday life and enjoyed. That is wonderful.
