Indian arrested in UAE on fraud charges

Dubai, Dec 22 (IANS): An Indian national, posing as a police officer, has been arrested along with a Pakistani accomplice in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for trying to defraud a man of money, a media report said Monday.

The suspects convinced an Indian man, wanted by the police in several cases, that they were Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers and could remove his criminal record if he paid them money, Khaleej Times reported.

The man, however, informed the police in Sharjah after which a trap was laid. The duo was arrested red-handed while receiving the money.

The Indian man was identified by his initials as M.M.H., 38, and his Pakistani accomplice as H.M.W., 43.
