Riyadh: Konkan Ghar Riyadh celebrates Natalancho Dabazo

Riyadh, Dec 29: Christmas joy was all around as Konkan Ghar Riyadh (KGR) celebrated "Nathalancho Dabazo" on the 25th of December, with the Christian community in Riyadh.

The fun-filled Christmas programme commenced with warm welcome by Eric D'sa Pangla. Ivan Vas Omzoor conducted the Christmas prayer and the Christmas message was conveyed by Lancy Moras Bajjodi. It was time for the crowd to join in, as the KGR choir group chanted the medley of Christmas carols.































Well known Konkani song writer, composer and singer Lancy Henry Moras from Jeddah, KSA, who won the Gulf Konkani Music award for the Best Album ‘Milan Mogachen’ was felicitated with flower bouquet and memento by Remy Lobo Deralakatte. Edmond Lewis Sastan gave a brief prologue of Lancy Moras to the crowd.

Lancy Moras expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported him to achieving a very memorable feet in Konkani music world.

The very special Christmas guest and children's most favourite of the season "Santa Claus" entry with his jingling bells and bag full of chocolates excited the children. Santa cut the Christmas cake together with the children and doubled their joy by distributing Christmas gifts. It was time for the family to have a family picture with Santa.

First time in the history of KSA, Christmas Kuswar Fiesta was organised by KGR with 20 participants taking part in the Homemade Kuswar Competition. Amitha Prabhu Bijai skilfully coordinated the Kuswar Fiesta. Below are the winners in various categories:

1. Individual Edition

a). Best Rice Laddos: First Place - Helen Lewis Sastan
                             Second Place - Anitha D'sa Pangla

b). Best Rice Chaklies: First Place - Anitha D'Sa Pangla
                               Second Place – Eileen Gonsalves Kinnigoli

c). Best Rice Nevriyos: First Place - Savitha Aranha Shirva
                                Second Place – Matilda Paula Karkal

2. Unlimited Edition


a). Maximum Homemade Kuswar items:

First Place     - Celin Mascarenhas Mukkamar
Second Place - Anitha D'Sa Pangla

Traditional delicious homemade “Kuswar” prepared by KGR members, were distributed to the gathering as remembrance of the Christmas season. Grace before meal was led by Sunitha Menezes Kallianpur. Sumptuous buffet was on the platter.

Games maniac, Amitha Prabhu, organized all the games and kept the audience thrilled. Special Housie Housie based on Christmas theme was conducted by Royston and Amitha Prabhu.

Sharon and Shallon Fernandes, talented daughters of Dammam SKY President Rony Shirthadi and Shanthi Fernandes, entertained the gathering by exhibiting their singing talent and keyboard skills.

Lancy Moras and Eden D'sa, kept the audience spell bound with their melodious song "Milan Mogachen" from the award winning album of Lancy Moras.

DJ music that kept the crowd on the dance floor with some foot tapping music added charm and aura of the evening.

The entire event was very eloquently compeered in Konkani dialect by Eden D'sa Pangla. Godwin Mendonca Mudarangady proposed the vote of thanks.

KGR wishes all its families, friends and everyone across the globe a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year 2015.

    My heart goes to each and every KGR member comprising children, ladies and gentlemen, youngsters in Riyadh. The way this “Christmas Dabazo”, we did rejoice conceivably I have not practiced in my yester years for sure.

    May the Heavenly new born Jesus be with “Konkan Ghar” group who are inessential to say far from their turf pleat together and show their wonderful love to one another and do everything awesome Konkani Community and for our syrupy mother tongue. Let this overwhelming life-force breed day by day and this group be the example of peace and love to the breathing world.
