Mumbai, Jan 5: Kendra Sahitya Academy New Delhi, Kannada division of Mumbai University, Karnataka Sangha Mumbai and Mysore Association Mumbai jointly held 'Sahitya Vedike' Contemorary literary forum programme at Matunga East Mysore Association hall on Saturday, January 3.

Dr H S Raghavendra Rao and feminist thinker Dr M S Ashadevi present on the occasion gave lectures on contemporary literature. Sahitya Academy Bangalore regional secretary S P Mahalingeshwar, Mysore Association president K Kamala, Sadananda Suvarna samskrathika prathistana secretary S K Sunder, Dr Jyothi Sathish and K Shivaraj were present on the dais. Dr H S Raghavendra lighted the traditional lamp and set in motion the programme prepared by Dr H S Raghavendra, senior dramatist, director and artiste.

Tears are the language of a woman. This forum portrays the feminism. Everybody should understand the personality of a woman. When we look at a woman we develop respect towards her, said Dr M S Ashadevi.

Mumbai university Kannada department head Dr G N Upadhya welcomed and gave a key note address. “Hundreds of associations are in Mumbai to pull the Kannada boat. There are more such associations in Mumbai than in the world. They have achieved great things in order to preserve the language. The Kannada department of the college has made the language reach the houses of Kannadigas. Dr Shivaram Karanth was popular among Marati speaking people by such attempts”, he said.

Sahitya Academy held books exhibition and journalist Shekar Ajekar Moodbidri exhibited the autobiography of Chittala. Shamala Radhesh sang poetry. Dr Poornima S Shetty compered the programme. P Chandrika Bangalore introduced the teachers. Narayana Navilekar proposed vote of thanks.
