Mangaluru: Buses fail to use electronic ticket issuing machines

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (CLP)

Mangaluru, Jan 6: The Mangaluru RTO had made compulsory for all the bus services to use electronic ticket issuing machines, from January 1,2015. But only few bus services are following the new guideline.

It is learnt that a special checking is conducted at Mangaluru in all the places to book the buses who do not follow the guideline with fines being imposed and cases being registered against them.

The notice was given to all the bus services two months back. Many did not heed to the notice, hence notice was issued twice. The RTO made compulsory for all the bus services to use electronic ticket issuing machines from Thursday, January 1.

Now after it was observed that the directive has not been followed, RTO personnel have intensified the checking under the leadership of RTO officer Shridar Nayak.

While over 45 buses have been booked already, the number will just increase in the coming days as many of the buses still do not have the machines. It is also observed, some buses who have the machines, do not use them.

For the past few months, vehicles were constantly checked for valid documents, licence etc which gave hard time for the commuters, now the gear is shifted to the bus services. The RTO also had also issued uniform bus fares for the private buses. However some bus services are not even issuing the tickets to the passengers and thus cheating them.

To curb all the problems faced by the passengers, the RTO had issued the notice. It is high time for the bus service to use the electronic ticket Issuing machines soon or be ready to pay the fine or to come under the wrath of the RTO officers.

It is indeed shocking to know that only few bus services are following this new guideline. If it was mandatory and effective today a lot of chaos would cease to exist.
As I was returning from Bejai this morning a 15 no. bus charged me 10 bucks to Mallikatte and there after alighted me at Kankanady after taking the highway route from Nanthoor to Pumpwell (skipping Nanthoor, Kadri, Mallikatte, St. Agnes and Bendorewell bus stops) in order to overtake another same-route bus(s).
We were neither refunded nor apologized.
A printed ticket can surely give authorities evidence against inconvenience caused by buses towards passengers.

Electronic ticket issuing system is a good move by the RTO But the machine is not enough use standard ticket format which contain fare list according to the distance traveled which is issued by the transport authority.

    Sir,
I am a daily traveller. The steps taken by the RTO was good. The conductors started issuing tickets. When I was travelling, the conductor told one of the students that 'there is no ticket for you'. This is for others. In another incident, when i was travelling, the city bus conductor was issuing service bus ticket. when i asked he said 'ticket korodige'. they dont have carbon copy, just finishing the ticket pad. Finally, i do not know who will get benefit - conductor, owner, passenger or RTO ??? I am also surprised to know how a conductor can issue a ticket using electronic machine during peak hours, in a crowded bus

THIS DRAMA IS JUST TO MINT MONEY AT THE COST OF COMMUTERS AND DIVERT PUBLIC ATTENTION FROM REDUCING BUS FARE. OTHERWISE IT IS IN NO WAY BENEFICIAL TO THE COMMUTERS.
RTO AND DC ARE SO FAST IN HIKING BUS FARE WHENEVER THERE IS DIESEL PRICE HIKE BUT THAT SPIRIT IS NOT SHOWN IN REDUCTION OF DIESEL PRICE SO MANY TIMES.
THERE ARE TWO BUSES PLYING FOR ONE LICENSE WHICH HAS NOT COME TO THE NOTICE OF THE POOR RTO BECAUSE THEY ARE PAID THRU OWNERS ASSOCIATION.

Glad to see that finally in Mangalore electronic ticket issuing system is implemented. Very good and aggressive initiative taken by the RTO. Some good rules need to be implemented for private buses too , keeping in mind the increasing number of accidents observed on account of their careless driving .

How the ticketing machines will benefit the passengers ?In fact it is useful to the owners to know the exact number of ticket issued and money collected.
now the question about law and order are the following.
    1. PASSENGER CAPACITY OF LONG PLATE BUSES ARE 42 10= 52. DO THE RTO PENALIZE THE BUSES FOR CARRYING MORE PASSENGERS THAN CAPACITY ALLOTTED ?
2.DO THE RTO GIVE PREFERENCE TO THE TIMINGS GIVEN FOR CITY BUSES AT THE POINT OF THEIR CHECKING? NONE OF THE BUSES RUNNING IN TIME SINCE THE TIMINGS DEPARTMENT IS MANAGED BY NOTORIOUS ROWDIES .DO THE RTO INTERFERE ?

Why our politicians are behind these conductors???? Electronic ticket means no extra income for these conductors. Why they are not keeping Government records by filming? They want records on file or papers because they can burn easily when they are caught in cheating and corruption???

I think RTO should introduce prepaid card system in Mangalore to make Modi's dream of Digital India a grand success. Prepaid cards should be distributed free of cost and topups should be made available similar to that of mobile top ups. This will also reduce the black money.

India is very back in technology.

All should make pay by prepaid card type on the device. No need to pay cash. No need conductor who take advantage of crowd bus to molest the girls.

If it is not for the conductors, you would have made the bus journey miserable for girls.
