BCCI extends condolences to Hughes' family

Sydney, Jan 7 (IANS): BCCI interim president Shivlal Yadav Wednesday met the bereaved parents of the late Australian batsman Phillip Hughes and offered condolences to them on his tragic death.

Shivlal extended solidarity on behalf of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to Phillip’s father Greg and mother Virginia.

Earlier, Hughes was honoured at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), with his family in attendance as the Australian team returned to play their first match at the ground after the death of the young batsman.

Australia are currently playing their fourth and final Test against India at the SCG where the 25-year-old suffered a fatal blow to the head after being hit by a bouncer during a domestic game Nov 25, last year.
