It is good to see that Saaaca get-to-gathers are organized every year to bring together alumni from all over.

The best gift one can give another is THE GREAT OF EDUCATION and this what we have received at the hands of my Jesuit Friends of Sacred Memory.

While on the subject I recall vividly my teachers Albert Gonsalves and then dear Raphael Mathais... lovingly termed as Raphab. Again I recall Father Ignatius Fernandes and Father Joe Sequeira in College not forgetting Father Bertram apart from Mr. Holla and Father George Albuquerque. The galaxy of these great teachers have played important roles in my formation

I wish I could see one of them and get inspired again. And now at the age of ninety-three I find it difficult to trace my school mates and therefore the question of a college or a school reunion is an unfulfilled dream. However I had the pleasure to be a part of The Aloysian Foundation in North America of which I was the founder Vice President with Father Oswald Mascarnehas the Founder President and Tony D'Sivla as the founder secretary. The foundation continues to function lending valuable services to St. Aloysius.

Indeed it is great to see that after decades a Jesuit Father has been elevated and given the honor of being a Bishop and this is no other than Bishop Francis Serrao - Bishop of Shimoga Diocese.

And now a young Jesuit Stanislaus D'Souza has taken over as The Provincial of The Karnataka Jesuit Mission who is indeed working with zeal and vigor. At the level of St. Al. Mangalore - Father Denzil has taken the great responsibility as rector and for the first the time in history we have a fine P.R.O. in Father Eric Mathais who is doing a great job

The Beri Project with different teaching disciplines leading to Master and PH.D. levels are under the able guidance of Father Oswald Mascarenhas ably assisted by Father Pradeep Sequeira.

Long live St. Aloysius - long live our ALMA MATER.

    Joe Gonsalves
