Media Tek keen to expand business in India

New Delhi, Feb 7 (IANS): Taiwan-based chip maker company Media Tek is keen to expand its presence in India, an official statement said here.

The global chairman of Media Tek M.K. Tsai and his team met Communications and Information Technology (IT) Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad Friday in the national capital.

"The Media Tek chairman shared his commitment to make technology more accessible for people. He was encouraged by the great market potential that India holds in the field of technology and high-tech services," the statement said.

Initiatives like Make in India and Smart Cities coupled with the liberalisation of defence manufacturing has created a great demand for technology solutions and hardware in India.

The minister shared with the chairman the government's vision to create IT hubs and BPO (business process outsourcing) centres in small towns and rural areas respectively.

This, according to Prasad, would propel the overall growth of India by bringing prosperity to the lesser developed parts of the country.
