Sharjah: Indian cultural society hosts annual sports meet

Sharjah, Mar 23: The sports meet organized by Indian cultural society at University of Sharjah Stadium on March 20 pulled a large crowd of spectators.  Participants from all UAE Emirates including a mix of athletes and teams from various states of India participated in the event.


























































































 

Saadullah, president Indian cultural society Kerala Sharjah chapter inaugurated the event. He called for unity and fraternity among athletes along with spirit of competition. 

Karnataka Kings, Delhi Challengers, Tamilnadu Smashers, Dubai Warriors, Sharjah Blasters and Abu Dhabi Raiders fielded their team in different colors and the athletes showed high spirit of competition.  The stadium overwhelmed by the crowd who witnessed tough competition in football, volleyball, kabadi, tug-of-war, running races and relay races. Running commentaries in English, Hindi, Tamil and Kannada also entertained the crowd.
 
Different sports events were held separately for women and children. 

Karnataka Kings secured the overall champion.

Majid Al Jarwan, vice chancellor of University of Sharjah and Kamar Laisa, the principal NI Model School Dubai participated as the honorable chief guests of the day. Guest of honor Hassan president of the Indian cultural society UAE presented the mementos to the chief guests.

Majid Al Jarwan appreciated the efforts taken by Indian cultural society to serve expatriates of the Indian community and the program was well organized.

Dignitaries present on the dais distributed the medals and trophies to the winners followed by the overall championship trophy given by chief guest of the event Majid Al Jarwan.

Closing ceremony was hosted by Mohamed Munavvar general secretary Indian cultural society UAE and conclude with vote thanks.
