Mangalore, Feb 28: Anganwadi workers in the district staged a dharna in front of the deputy commissioner’s officer here on Wednesday February 28 to urge the fulfillment of various demands.
The protesters took a procession from taluk panchayat officer to the deputy commissioner’s office, where they held the protest. A memorandum addressed to chief minister Kumaraswamy was submitted to the DC.
Altogether, five demands were placed before the DC, including extra funds to run anganwadis, provision of gas facility to all anganwadis etc. They also protested against the entry of politics in to Bala Vikasa Samiti.
Among those present were Association of DK District Teachers and Assistants Bantwal unit secretary Vasanti, Mangalore rural joint secretary Pushpa Kumari and city unit president Jayakshmi B R.
