Kundapur, Apr 15: A woman died under mysterious circumstances at a lodge near Shastri circle here on Wednesday April 15.

Though initially her identity was not known, the police later established that she was Lalitha Devadiga, a resident of Gangolli.

It is said that a man identified as Azhar Fazal Khan (32) had booked a room in the lodge about 10 days back.

On Wednesday morning, he brought the lady, aged about 58-60 years, and told the receptionist at the lodge that she was his mother. Believing his words, the receptionist did not register her name.

Later in the evening, when the room boy passed by the room where Azhar was staying, he found the door open and Lalitha fallen on the floor unconscious. Azhar was nowhere to be seen.

The room boy alerted the other staff and the woman was rushed to the government hospital, where the doctors declared her dead.

Meanwhile, Azhar has gone abconding, taking away all his clothes and belongings from the lodge.

The cause and circumstances leading to the woman's death are not yet known.

Kundapur police have registered a case and have launched a hunt for Azhar.

Such a twisted mentality! The woman was 55-60 years of age. Just because they were in a 'room', you imply that dey had used it for immoral purposes????? Shame on your thinking!!!!

U are hinting on immoral activities. Such is the condition of our men in the country. i am not surprised. If a woman and a man enter a hotel together, no matter what the age is, how can u think only of immoral activities????

The lodge people should be punished for their irresponsible behavior. Why they have not suspected anything while booking the room. Why they have not asked their ID details. Why girls also has to go to lodge with a boy alone?.

I am sorry on this news. Hoteliers should made it mandatory to get copy of identity card from all the persons while booking a room. I could not understand how Azhar khan came in contact with a aged lady from Ganguli. By name it is clear that this person is not from Kundapura Taluk. Case should be investigated.
