Saudi Arabia ends 'Decisive Storm' military operation in Yemen

Riyadh, April 22 (IANS): The Saudi Arabian defence ministry announced on Tuesday the end of the military campaign against the Houthi rebels in Yemen, according to media reports.

The ministry stated that the airstrikes conducted as part of the "Operation Decisive Storm" military campaign had managed "to successfully remove threats to Saudi Arabia's security and that of neighbouring countries", according to an Al Arabiya News report.

"The coalition will continue to prevent the movement of Houthi militias from moving or undertaking any operations inside Yemen," an official said.

A new campaign, named "Operation Restoring Hope", was announced after the military campaign launched on March 26 fulfilled its objectives.

The new push will usher in diplomatic and political efforts along with the military operations, the official said, adding that the campaign ended following a request from the "legitimate" Yemeni government led by President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

"Operation Restoring Hope", which will begin on Wednesday, aims to protect civilians and continue fighting terrorism in Yemen, according to a Saudi defence ministry statement.

It did not, however, signal a ceasefire, the official said.

The Saudi-led airstrikes and ground battles have killed about 700 people and wounded 3,000 over the course of nearly a month, according to the Yemeni health and interior ministries.

Every Indian should know about about Operation Rahat.
    1) PM Modi called up Saudi King Salman for his co-operation in rescuing Indians from Yemen. Since the PM shares a good relationship with the Saudi King, the King assured his complete support. PM Modi requested the Saudi King to stop the air strike for some time and also allow Indian planes to fly out of Yemen, so that Indians could be evacuated from the strife torn country.

    2) The Indian national carrier, Air India, carried 488 people through three special flights from Sana’a to India on April 5. A day later, Air India is reported to have evacuated 574 people from Sana’a to Djibouti, described as the single largest evacuation by air in a day. The Indian Airforce had dispatched its C-17s on April 2, and brought back 358 Indians.

    3) Eyewitnesses state that, in such a hostile atmosphere, unarmed Gen VK Singh toured the cities & villages in Yemen, collecting Indians & anybody else who asked him for help. He did not sit in a car or a Helicopter. He actually got on the ground & walked on the roads, in the streets & commanded the operation.

    4) Because of the stunning rescue work done by India, 26 nations reached out for help in evacuating their citizens. Countries like USA, Germany, France were amongst those which sought help.

Its a matter of shame for the nation, that no leading newspaper or media channel finds this historic mission worthy enough to cover frontpages or be on prime time. Its up to social media now, to let truth prevail.

What 'Decisive Storm' SA is boasting about? For each and everything they depend on expats and other countries! If their own country is attacked their soldiers will run away in underwears shedding their uniforms as Kuwaities did during Iraqui invasion and beg for US help! Only thing they know is 'sand storm'!

What did they achieved so called Saudi Arabia's 'Decisive Storm'. Firstly Saudi Arabia thought that it is very easy to invade Yemen crush Houthi rebels. But in Saudi reality, Houthi's are not rebels, in democracy we call as opposition. And in Yemen they need democracy and fresh election. For that they have very strong external support from Russia-Lebanon-Iran-Syria. As far Saudi led Saudi Arabia's 'Decisive Storm' there is no support from its allies. In all GCC there are Shiyas and Sunni people. In Yemen Houthi's are Shiyas. So if Sunnis attack Shiyas, then in other GCC countries there will be civil war. So by force Saudi led 'Decisive Storm' military operation in Yemen has been stopped and United Nations also told stop this unsuccessful war. So in reality Houthi rebels (opposition party) in Yemen is strong and....and they will come as very strong Shiya nation in coming days and years.

Nothing like that Iran is a good country...they are the one country who are trying to improve technically..GCC countries are good for nothing just import old U.S weapons by selling their petrol wealth...Import western engineers and technicians to build skyscrapers...these people have lost their brain...limited just with imported smart phone,a bag of potato chips, luxury travel and a chicken meal with coke and good U.S market..they fail to think out of that...
Israel is not worried of any GCC countries they know it..the weapon they stack is old U.S weapons..only country they fear is Iran coz they are trying to technically improve...For me shia or sunni doesn't matter ..I would part with Iran..Saudi need to learn from Iran and try to bridge the gap..This will solve most of the M.E problem....Problem is this is distant dream

and good one! and most of the times IRAN has some self respect and are ready to do trade with other countries in their currency term and dont suck up to US hegemony and like saudi does, ONLY DOLLAR TERMS!

yes, Ayatollah Khomeini regime is a total bigot, but atleast they stand up against US! here the new proposed nuclear deal, is also US's witchcraft, where it wants to somehow tame Israel! because, every one knows Jews are the most powerful in terms of techonology, financially, militarily! and if at all one can screw US in future date, it is them! they dont need Nuclear arms, but they are capable of building anything in this world!

I am surprised Poeple support Saudi over a small country Yemen! Same people were running down saddam when he tried such stunt with Kuwait! Only reason could be Islam was born in Saudi?

in other gcc countries there are shia sunni divide.but in yemen.houthi rebels are portrayed as shias.but houthis are a combination of 7 groups in which one group is only a shia and rest are sunni groups.

they are fighting against the oppression of saudi appointed pres in thier country and interference of saudi royal family in thier country to make it thier slave country.qatar is also not supporting saudi.oman is also not supporting saudi.

saudis in eastern areas of saudi arabia are also rebelling against dictatorial saudi royal family.the day is not far when saudi people will overthrow this dictatorial family and install democrarcy in saudi arabia.

Shaan, manglore/dubai..... please note that Iran's ancient name is Parsia and Iraq's ancient name is Babylonia (both countries are having scientists since before) And now Iran is having Nuclear Technology as well as weapons). Even USA has recognized this and having agreement with Iran. Recently Russia supplied some weapons for them. At the end we all human beings don't want war, crime, destruction killing of people. We need peace and harmony and at the same time we all need changes of mindset also. So let there be democracy and let people decide who want to rule them without any interference from some other royal group or family.
