Kundapur: Tanker collides with bike, woman pillion rider dies

Kundapur, May 1: A woman pillion rider on a bike died in a tragic accident between the bike and a Bullet tanker near Nagooru Women’s society on Thursday afternoon, April 30.


The deceased woman has been identified as Kaveri (55), a resident near Ganganadu Onakodlu near Byndoor.

The woman was the pillion rider on the bike driven by her son Ganapathi when an edge of a bullet tanker behind the bike hit the bike when the bullet tanker driver was trying to overtake the bike.

The bike fell on the road seriously injuring the woman on her head. She succumbed to her injuries on the way to the hospital.

    These are a series of accidents which can be attributed to negligent driving. It is time that goods vehicles are fitted with speed governors. That apart there should be regular refresher programmes for drivers of transport vehicles.
