Unauthorized collection of money for earthquake victims, youth warned

Daijiworld Media Network-Puttur (RJP)

Puttur, May 9: Devastating Himalayan earthquake has shaken the whole world. Rescue teams have been working day and night to bring the situation into normalcy. Flow of help from good hearted donors has been pouring in.

One can see that lot of efforts have been taken in the state also to send the money to Nepal, the most affected place in the earthquake.

As expected some ‘collections’ for themselves instead of sending to Nepal have been taking place. Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district had asked to follow some norms while collecting money for the victims.

A team of three youths dressed like executives was found collecting money in Subramanya on Friday . They held a box which said they were collecting money for the earthquake victims. Their collections went on without any interruption until night on Friday when some doubted them. It is said that they were warned by some people against continuing the collection in the area.

The collection was done in the area very close to the police station. Upon enquiry, the youth revealed that they are from a service oriented organization in Davanagere . They did not issue any receipt for their collections. The total amount of cash they have collected in town is not known.

Public have been warned about the unauthorised collections in the name of earthquake victims.

Try to get in direct touch with some of the families of Nepal who have been hit badly and do something directly to help them. No agency is good, when there is money there are many Vultures waiting to grab these funds. Victims in the end they never get these funds and as time passes by everything is forgotten. Think of the Tsunami of 1996, people are still enjoying the funds collected for this disaster. Well in the end we have to live everything is Gods hand.

    वैष्णव जन तो तेने कहिये जे पीड परायी जाणे रे।

this should be our culture.. when we are helping others, let us not boast about it or have ulterior motives.. let it be SEVA!... secondly, there will be vulutres, in the case of natural calamities, who will propgate their religion, take benefit of situation, do some charity or some majorly try to con and make money out of it in such situation.. while you cant stop all of them, its good not to trust them.. specially when Nepal is a differenct country, one can not collect money just like this and pass it on to victims, there is foreign exchange rules, ED etc in this.. bbest is people should donate to PM relief fund, and with Modi at helm, you can trust him to do a good work, to your satisfaction- aatmasantrapti! that is final aim of all human beings!

I was on a one week vacation. I had an experience last week in Bangalore, I seen a bunch of Nepali kids shouting on highways caring play cards and boxes, Shouting help for Nepal, I refuse to donate because we don't know who gets the donation. I am a very generous while donating, but now I am very cautious while donating, because there were times I was taken for a ride...
