State law department examining HC judgement on Jaya: Siddaramaiah

New Delhi, May 23 (PTI): Even as AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa returned to power today, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the state law department is examining the judgement of the High Court which acquitted her of all charges and the government would take a decision on filing an appeal in the case after receiving the report.

"Our law department is examining the judgement of Karnataka High Court. After getting the report from law department, we will decide," Siddaramaiah told reporters here.

Asked whether he has spoken to AICC in this regard, the chief minister said, "No, the High command is not at all interfering in the state matters".

Jayalalithaa was disqualified following her conviction in the Rs 66.66 crore disproportionate assets case by a trial court in Bengaluru on September 27. The Karnataka High Court had subsequently acquitted her of the charges on May 11 this year.

She was today sworn in for the fifth time as chief minister, nearly eight months after she was forced to quit over corruption charges.

    OUR JUDICIAL SYSTEM:

A cow was running away from the jungle. ..
An elephant stopped the cow and asked the reason behind the panic..
Cow said: government had ordered to catch all the buffaloes in the jungle.
Elephant asked: but you are a cow, why are u running ??
Cow said: I know I am cow , but if they catch me , it will take 20 years to prove that I am a cow not a buffalo. ...!
Elephant also started running with the cow....

True the state govt., has 90 days to appeal. The study should be done within 30 days and the appeal filed with 45days of the judgement of the HC. If Karnataka Govt., fails to file an appeal then the Congress talk on providing a "Corruption free Governance" is hollow.Congress loses its moral right to criticise other politicians and political parties. The nation will not forgive the Congress leadership if they do not appeal. Personally I have met Mr Justice Michael Dcunha when he was an advocate at Mangalore and know him as an upright, honest and clean advocate. The Trial court cannot commit such a blunder in its judgement. Nevertheless it is important the HC judgement be challenged without fail. Mr Siddaramaiah should act swiftly on the HC judgement which has drawn national and international attention. Being a former advocate Mr Siddaramaiah should know his commitment to render Justice to the people of this country.
