Mangalore, Apr 12: A six-year-old boy playing beside his house at Karnad Sadashiv Rao Nagar near Mulki here was killed after being run over by a recklessly-driven rickshaw on Wednesday April 11 evening.

Nagaraj (6) of Karnad Sadashiv Rao Nagar was playing with his siblings on Wednesday evening.  Since their house is close to the by-road, their mother asked them to come inside when the rickshaw came.

However, before the children could go inside, the rickshaw arrived.  Still the mother managed to pull one of them in.  But Nagaraj became a victim of reckless driving of the rickshaw driver Mohammad Shafi.  Though Nagaraj was rushed to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to the injuries a little while later.  Nagaraj was the son of Cheluvaraj, a coolie worker.  He was the last child and had two elder sisters.

Mulki circle inspector Manjunath Shetty has registered a case against rickshaw driver Mohammad Shafi in this regard.
