Puttur, Apr 17: A 10-year-old boy from Nekkiladi near Uppinangady here drowned in Netravati river on Monday April 16.

Muhammad Irshad (10), son of Hameed from Nekkiladi and student of Mountain View School here met watery grave after slipping and falling into the river Netravati.  He had gone to the river along with his family members to wash clothes.

Irshad's elder sister's nikah was held on Sunday April 15.  There were relatives still in their house on Monday.  Celebrations were on till this tragedy happened.  Many of the family members had gone to the river for washing clothes in the afternoon and along them little Irshad too had gone without knowing that death was prowling around.  The entire house that was filled with laughter and joy only a day ago, is now turned into a place of sorrow.

Irshad's body was fished out of water a little while later and was handed over to the family after autopsy at hospital here.  Uppinangady police have registered the case.
