CFTRI refuses Maggi sample, says 'Karnataka not under our ambit'

New Delhi, Jun 4 (PTI): A day after a Mysuru-based Central food research institute refused to accept samples of Maggi noodles sent by Karnataka government for testing, the organisation today said that the state does not fall under its jurisdiction and they should be sent to Kolkata.

Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysuru, in a statement said as per the notification by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Karnataka falls under Central Food Laboratory in Kolkata.

"The jurisdiction of the referral laboratory as per the gazette notification by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (FSSAI) dated December 2, 2014, the samples drawn from the state of Karnataka falls under the jurisdiction of Central Food Laboratory, Kolkata.

"The state of Karnataka falls under the jurisdiction of Central Food Laboratory, Kolkata. As per the notification, Referral Food Laboratory, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru, jurisdiction will be for the states of Bihar, Goa, Delhi, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Union Territories of Dadar and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu and Puducherry," the institute said.

"The rule is framed to ensure that the primary laboratory analysis data can be reanalysed in the appellate laboratory if the need thus arises and this procedure is defined to avoid bias in the final decision and to maintain confidentiality," CFTRI added.

Yesterday, Karnataka Health Minister U T Khader said samples of Maggi had been sent to central government's CFTR in Mysuru, but it refused to receive the samples saying it was a legal matter.

"Shockingly, CFTRI has refused to receive the samples stating it is a legal case," Khader had said yesterday, adding that he would write to Union Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan and Health Minister J P Nadda, on this.

"...if this sort of response is given by a central agency it is not good for the system," Khader said. He however had added that "if they (central government) ask us to refer the samples to some other agencies, we are ready for it".

    I agree with Marle.

Why such a hue and cry is made about Maggi?

Maybe some one did not get a bribe and retaliated.

For 30 years an entire generation has grown up on Maggi. And we are still alive.

Every single hostel student lives on maggi as it is better than the trash served in hostel messes.

Every single food item sold in India is adulterated.

FDA is sleeping. Government is sleeping, opposition is sleeping and companies are making profits.

Even the ice creams sold are made from food oils. Dont believe me? ask the manufacturers or read the labels.

Even the ayurveda medicines you use have more lead than maggi noodles.

    Only God can save us.

Believe me within 2 weeks Maggi will be back on the shelves and in your kitchen.

Sanjog, Pelakai gatti is good! How many knows how to do it? Beef...many knows with chilly, pepper or dry! Many call it jinkeda masa specially cow activists...cheap source of meat and side dish during liquid diet!! Let people enjoy noodles, pelakai gatti or beef...it is individual choice!! Let them eat what they like!! let us not push pelakai gatti into the throat of those like noodle or beef!! Me and you eat our pure veg vada or dosa with hot samber!! I like vegetarian food than non veg...but I like people what they wish to eat!! Often people care for their choice of food than anything else in this world!! Take it easy mate! I appreciate your kind reply!!

We have several laws, policy& article written 50-60 years backs & all govt official takes advantage of these law. When these things going to change? If CFTRI Mysore not able to test sample for Karnataka , then why the hell they operate this center in Karnataka.

There are many instant foods other than Maggie, like TopRamen, Foodles.... Pepsi, Coke..etc are used in Andra Pradesh by some farmers as pesticides. It's also ideal Toilet Cleaner & you can try this. Products as Lays, Kurkere,.. contains harmful chemicals, & you can burn Kurkure & observe that it burns like Camphor. Pizza served by Domino's, Pizzahut... has also been said to contain chemicals to enhance Taste which is quite harmful to health. Even, in Mineral Waters like Kinley, Bislery.... 18 type of chemicals is said to be used to make it bacteria free. Even, Gobi Manchuri sort of Street Foods, Dye colors & chemicals are used.

Ultimately, its we fools who pay & buy all those Junks, something like to serve
our Stomach as Dustbin. Really pathetic, that we have to be addicted to all sorts of Chemicals.

Send all samples to my home I will test, like the evolution of human and his ability to adjust to different condition. my body is now used to different chemicals. When we make such a huge hue and cry about maggie? has anyone thought about other things that one has every day.

The environment that we are living in today is so poisonous that it takes out 5 - 10 years of human life ? what about that why is Govt. not considerate about it ?

Are you writing it for yourself or others??? Are you imposing your food habits on others?? In this modern world people know what to eat and when to eat! You enjoy your wada sambar and we may enjoy it for break fast!! For quick bite or for lunch or dinner let us have an option of these fast food!! Improve your small mind!! Your opinion does not change a bit on others option of food!!!!

    Ronny..

I am much concerned about my aunt's children's as it will depleted and will comes down to 1.5% as like of parsis.

Better also advise stop eating 'beef' and go for 'Pelakai Gatti' for long run. Both resemble the same.

Till now government used to make people to run from one office to another in order to get their work done and today government itself is facing the issue.

Really Surprising that the CFTRI is located in Mysuru and Government of Karnataka needs to send to Kolkotta for test whereas North Indian States are to send it to South India.
This is completely an unscientific Notification passed by the Central Government.

All eateries like Mcdonalds, KFC, Subway, Domnic Pizza, Cococola, Pepsi and others should be banned immediately from India.

It's much dangerous than 'Pan parag' or various 'Gutkas'. Slow poison will ruin and reduce life of the person. If once addicted cannot leave behind.
