Udupi, Apr 24: Vishwesha Tirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Math, whose birthday falls on Thursday, has said that former Chief Minister M. Veerappa Moily will be presented the "Vijayashree Prashasti" on the occasion here.

The swamiji told presspersons here on Monday that the "Vijayashree Prashasti" was being given to Mr. Moily for his contribution to the field of literature. Noted scholar M. Prabhakar Joshi from Mangalore would deliver a special lecture on the occasion, he said. Junior seer of Pejawar Math Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Swamiji and Raghubhushana Tirtha Swamiji of Balagaru Math would be present.

Eleven eminent persons will also be felicitated on the occasion. They are K.R. Hande, Sakkattu Lakshminarayanayya, Ambatanaya Mudrady, K. Govinda Bhat, Puttur Sridhar Bhandary, Khandige Shyam Bhat, K. Damodar Aithal, K. Gururaj Bhagawat, M. Prabhakar Joshi, Balkur Krishna Yaji and Kundadakuli Ramachandra Hegde.

A Yakshagana performance, "Bheeshmotpati", by the Saligrama Mela would be presented the same evening, the seer said.

New PU college

Vishwesha Tirtha Swamiji said that the Vidyodaya Pre-University College, which is run by the Vidyodaya Trust that he heads, would be inaugurated here on Wednesday.

The swamiji said that the new college would begin functioning from the academic year 2007-08. The college would follow the State syllabus. Initially, only science courses would be offered at the college, he said.

He said the Dharmadhikari of Sri Ksehtra Dharmasthala would deliver the inaugural address at the function, which would be presided over by Medical Education Minister V.S. Acharya.
