Epic Channel launches new show based on Tagore stories

Mumbai, June 25 (IANS): Epic Channel held a special event here to launch their much-anticipated show Stories By Rabindranath Tagore directed by Barfi director Anurag Basu with those present getting to watch the first episode based on famous short story Chokherbali. The series is all set to air from 6 July onwards.

Anurag had shared the first look of his new venture on Twitter on Tagore's birthday (May 7), which is celebrated as "Pochishe Boishakh".

The show will feature some of legendary Tagore's masterpiece stories including "Binodini", "Charulata", "Atithi", "Kabuliwala" among others. While actress Radhika Apte will play the character of Binodini, Amrita Puri will be seen on TV for the first time in "Charulata".

At the event, Anurag told media that Tagore has always been his inspiration. "I've always wanted to recreate his magic for the small screen for over a decade. The show is set to take the viewers on a magical journey through old Bengal with great characters, exactly how Tagore created it in his short stories."

Epic's MD Mahesh Samat said: "With Anurag, we found the perfect synergy in vision and passion for recreating Tagore's stories."
