Mumbai train blasts victim dies after nine years in coma

Mumbai, Jul 7 (IANS): Nine years after being in coma, Parag Sawant, who was injured in the July 11, 2006 Mumbai suburban train serial blasts, died here early Tuesday, officials said.

Then aged 27, Sawant was travelling in a Churchgate-Virar train to his home when a bomb ripped apart a coach of the suburban local near Bhayander.

He suffered extensive head injuries and brain trauma and was rushed to the Bhaktivedanta Hospital in Mira Road before being shifted to P.D. Hinduja Hospital in south Mumbai.

"I am sad to hear the news. In fact last week, I was discussing with his family members my plans to visit Parag (Sawant) at the hospital on the ninth anniversary of the 7/11 blasts next Saturday. His family and Parag took the tragedy bravely," said Kirit Somaiya, Mumbai North-East BJP MP.

One of the last survivors of the terror attack, Sawant, 36, is survived by his wife Priti, rehabilitated with a job in Indian Railways, and minor daughter Praniti, eight years old whom he never saw as she was born after he lapsed into a vegetative state.

Sawant had become popular among the masses for his will to live, had regained consciousness briefly in 2008, and was visited by personalities like former deputy prime minister L.K. Advani and union Minister Sushma Swaraj.

The 7/11 Mumbai suburban trains serial blasts, carried out in a span of just 11 minutes, targeted the crowded suburban services during the evening peak hours as bombs kept in pressure cookers went off in north-bound locals on Western Railway.

A total of 209 commuters were killed and another 700-plus injured in the most deadly attack on Mumbai's lifeline at Bhayander, Borivali, Jogeshwari, Khar Road, Bandra, Mahim and Matunga Road, while one unexploded bomb was found by police and defused at Borivali.

While terrorism surges unabated all over the world, ALL terrorists have the following in common.

    1. They have an ideology that is based on Hate. Many people get confused and blame people, it is not about people, but all about an ideology. It is not complicated so just listen to them, at times they make videos before they die explaining their actions.
    2. It is never their fault, it is always someone else’s fault.
    3. If someone, somewhere in the world said this or did that, then it is his responsibility to hit back. Only if they are very week they may go in for discussions, but at the first available opportunity they will violently hit back .
    4. On the outward they are pious, devout people and they would definitely show outward signs of how religious they are, but on the inward they would have all the forbidden fruit in the world.
    5. The world may call them terrorist, but they consider themselves "freedom fighters or religious warriors", and anyone who does not subscribe to their ideologies - He is a terrorist.

In short they are all good people, but the whole World is bad.

There is ONLY thing that needs to be changed, it is their ideology, but they completely and totally refuse to change even a word and so there is nothing that can be done peacefully to solve this problem.

Parag suffered for 9 years for crime committed by terrorists.
His wife and family suffered and still suffering.
His daughter became almost orphan for all practical reasons before seeing this world.
All these due to acts of few evil elements in the society.
Unfortunately our intelligence system and surveillance system is still not geared up to prevent recurring of such incidents in future.

Sad news to hear, for the sake of few brainwashed people innocents has to suffer and loose their life...Hope Govt take strict action whoever commits crime and may be whichever color the terrorism be or whichever ideology it matches with them except that innocent shouldn't be kept languishing in Jail without proper evidence...Whenever govt goes soft on certain brand of terrorism by eliminating evidence delaying investigation changing investigation course or threatening to save certain people because it matches with their mentors ideology...You are adding more fuel to terrorism rather than dousing it off......On one side it will give inspiration for certain people to commit more coz they think govt is going soft on them for their acts...On opposite side other type of people will use it to further brainwash few more people citing govts inaction on certain brand of terrorism....Remember it...!!!

May his soul rest peace..The person who is responsible for this barbaric crime has been given permission to talk to his wife and family members and thinking that ISIS would release him from Indian jail.As long as our LAW and system don't change people like Riaz Bhatkal can dream anything..Simple example is Air India plane hijack case..Our politicians wasted lot of time to take action against hijackers when plane was in Amritsar..But they gave permission to Commando force to take action when plance landed in Dubai !! Our plane with Commandos came back without landing in Dubai !! (Revealed by EX RAW officer). When media attaked Mr.Jaswant Singh,he gave hilarious reply " We were collecting opinions from opposition party to attack or not"..Finally,Vajpayee Govt release 3 notorious terrorists from Sri Nagar jail in echange of passengers..J&K Chief Minister Mr.Farookh Abdulla was against releasing terrorists. He was pressurized by Central Govt to release..

How can they be brought to justice when they are very happily staying in Porkistan and have lots of supporters in India who constantly keep justifying and supporting their acts?

Indeed a great shame around the world. Today is 7/7, Ten years since the London Bombing. The same ideology inflicted this madness.
Its time for the world to unite against this ideology and put an end to this madness in the name of Religion.
