Udupi, Jul 12: An expensive 80-day-old British Bulldog puppy has become the centre of all attention. The puppy has arrived from Mumbai to Udupi on Saturday July 11, bought at a whopping price of Rs 1.09 lac by a Mangalurean family.

The British Bulldog puppy was bought through Alwyn Barnes, a canine dealer in Santhekatte. The event garnered much attention in Udupi and particularly among animal lovers especially because of its sheer cost. The canine costs Rs 1.09 lac and weights 9.3 kg. The life span of this puppy is 11-12 years.

The name 'Bulldog' is associated with revolver, games, professional wrestling tag-team and a nickname of Australian ruled football team. Traced to a British-Israeli origin, the Bulldog's typical means of attack includes latching onto the animal's snout and attempting to suffocate it.

The breed is characteristically wide headed animal. There are generally thick folds of skin on a Bulldog's brow. It has round black wide eyes, a short muzzle with characteristic folds called a knot above the nose. The dog has its skin hanging under the neck and drooping lips with pointed teeth and occasionally an under bite.

Thejas Kamath, the proud owner of the canine says, "It was my long-cherished dream to have a British Bulldog. I wanted to have this because it looks cute, small, little lazy and silent in nature when compared to other breeds. So I purchased this puppy."

Nirmala Kamath, mother of Thejas says, "My son has loved dogs since his childhood. I had a Golden Retriever, which I just gave to one of my relatives three months ago. It was active and naughty. My son insisted that we purchase this cute puppy. So I agreed and fulfilled his wish."

The family ordered the puppy at a canine dealership office just a week ago and got it delivered to them. Dog lovers have been visiting Alwyn’s home out of curiousity.

Alwyn, the canine dealer says, "A customer had purchased a Pitbull for Rs 37,000 earlier. I had wished that a customer should have British Bulldog. So my dream has come true. Many people may have purchased directly from canine owners."

Alwyn nurtures more than 19 varieties of breeds in his home. He has been breeding dogs from 12 years as a professional.

Why a dog is addressed in derogatory terms like Kuttha, naida maga when in fact it is a noble creature. It will always want your affection and forgiving even if you illtreat it.

People are very much interested in showing off by buying big bungalows, bidding for antique objects, costly animals etc etc., nobody is taking care of ones who are very poor who hardly earn a daily foods by begging, working hard as laborer in a heat weather, cannot buy medicines to get cure who are sick and ridden on bed. Instead of showing off by buying all these, think of helping poor peoples who are cannot afford daily living.

Bro, you are right, their money and they will do what they want, but those times are gone when people used to turnaround for a second look when one such branded car (you mentioned) passed, today nobody cares two hoots for such cars, just walk the streets and see for yourself!!

There is no limit to extravagance, have seen in Mumbai many people have separate bedrooms, cars, drivers, and caretakers for dogs, now even dog restaurants opened in Mumbai, food parcels as per dogs taste can also be ordered, and it goes on!!

THE way this 'dog-lover' kept his pets in tiny cage i've serious doubt about his "LOVE".. no real animal lover would even dream of torturing pets by confining them in such a small cage.
THERE are 4 dogs in 1 single wired mesh!! & 2 more in even tinier cage in which even birds cant be kept.
HE should've 1st provided better place for existing pets.. i'm appalled the way dogs are kept.

Cute dog, heavy on pocket!! In a place where humans have no value, this is vulgar display of wealth in my opinion!!

BTW, this is nothing, an 11-month old red Tibetan mastiff, had been brought for £ 945,000 (approximately Rs 6.8 crore) by a person whose identity is yet to be known. The red Tibetan mastiff, is now the holder of the coveted most expensive dog tag, which rather unsurprisingly was held by another Tibetan mastiff called Red Lion. Red Lion was purchased at at £ 915,000 (approximately Rs 6.6 crore) in 2010.!!

Uber rich people do not know what to do with the huge stash of wealth and get ideas to pursue such hobbies, otherwise how will they spend the money!!

Why is such a hue and cry being made about this. This is very similar to adoption. When the dog can have a better life than being confined in a cage forever, why not appreciate when someone wants to take it home and take good care of it. The joy that a pet gives its owners need to be experienced which cannot be equated to money. why should giving care and comfort to a canine be questioned. This amount is considerably small when compared to the amount spent on purchase of grooms.
