New Delhi, Jul 16 (HT): Pakistan on Thursday summoned the Indian high commissioner in Islamabad to register its protest over alleged airspace intrusion by an Indian spy drone.
Pakistan had said on Wednesday that an "Indian spy drone" was shot down by the army along the Line of Control in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The Pakistani army had claimed that the drone was being used for aerial photography and was "brought down for violation of Pakistan's territorial integrity".
India denied the claim, saying no such drone crashed or was shot down.
Indian and Pakistani troops had also exchanged fire in Kashmir on Wednesday, killing a woman and wounding at least four other people on the Indian side, officials said.
Wednesday's incidents came days after the prime ministers of the two countries met on the sidelines of a summit in the Russian city of Ufa in an effort to ease tensions.
India and Pakistan have fought two wars over their competing claims to Kashmir, which is divided between the two rivals. A 2003 cease-fire has largely held despite small but regular skirmishes.
