Udupi: Another suspected suicide - 24-year-old found dead in lodge

Udupi, Aug 1: In yet another case of suspected suicide, a youth was found dead in a room at a tourist lodge here on Saturday August 1.

The deceased has been identified as Sathyajit alias Jeetu (24), a resident of Badagabettu, and employee of a saloon.

It is said that on Friday July 31, Sathyajit and his friend Pramod Manoj Kumar (32) of Doddanagudde had rented a room at a tourist boadring and lodging in Udupi.

It is suspected that when Kumar went out, Sathyajit mixed poison in alcohol and consumed it.

The incident came to light when the staff at the lodge went to the room in order to clean it, and found Sathyajit dead.

Sources said that Kumar did not return to the lodge after leaving it on the previous night.

The police arrived at the spot and conducted investigation. They also took Kumar to the police station for interrogation.

A case has been registered in Udupi town police station.

This is the second case of suspected suicide reported in Udupi. Earlier in the day, Naveen Ganiga (32), who had gone missing on July 29, was found dead in a well at Barkur.
