Soldier held for wife's dowry death


Gurgaon, Aug 4 (IANS): A soldier, posted in Maharashtra, was arrested in connection with dowry death of his wife, police said on Tuesday.

Sandeep Kumar, 23 is a resident of village Khod near Pataudi here. He had married in 2013 and his wife had died in September last year, being found hanging in her in-laws' house. The post-mortem report revealed that poison was also present in her body.

Police then had filed the case of accidental death but later a case of dowry death was registered on the complaint of her mother.

The in-laws were demanding a motorcycle and Rs.50,000 cash, police said.

"Sepoy Kumar, who got married in 2013, was arrested from Pune on Monday," said police officer Yashbir Singh.

Kumar's parents were also arrested in March in connection with the murder.

He was on Tuesday produced in the court of the sub-divisional magistrate, who sent him to 14 days judicial custody.
