Beijing, Aug 16 (IANS): The Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) on Sunday said it has begun to investigate whether there is any dereliction of duty involved in last week's warehouse explosions in China's Tianjin city.
As of Sunday, no officials handling the warehouse of Ruihai International Logistics Co. Ltd, has been held accountable for the explosions, reported Xinhua news agency.
Prosecutors from the SPP will cooperate with local authorities to gather evidence and assist in further operations.
The twin-blasts in the warehouse have claimed 112 lives, while 95 people, including 85 firefighters, still remain missing.
Over 700 people have been hospitalised, including 58 in critical condition, the rescue headquarters said.
