HC seeks report from Delhi government on plying of Ola cabs

New Delhi, Aug 17 (IANS): The Delhi High Court on Monday sought a status report from the Delhi government and traffic police on the steps taken to enforce a ban on app-based cab service providers.

Justice Manmohan asked the Delhi government to also apprise whether app-based cab service provider Ola was still operating in violation of its earlier orders.

The court earlier asked the Delhi government to "strictly enforce" the ban imposed by it on January 1.

The Association of Radio Taxis moved a contempt petition against Ola, claiming its cabs were still plying on the city roads despite a July 29 order of a single judge as well as an August 11 decision by a division bench of the high court upholding the ban.

On January 1, the Delhi government banned the operation of app-based cab services till they complied with the guidelines of the Radio Taxi Scheme of 2006, amended on December 26, 2014.
