Israel extends emergency reservist mobilisation until Sept 30

Daijiworld Media Network – Jerusalem

Jerusalem, Aug 3: Israel's parliament has approved a two-month extension of the emergency military mobilisation, allowing the armed forces to continue calling up large numbers of reservists as the war in Gaza continues.

The Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee voted 4-2 in favour of the government's request to extend the emergency mobilisation until September 30.

The approval authorises the Israeli military to call up a maximum of 240,000 reservists during the extended period.

Israel has renewed similar emergency mobilisation orders every few months since the outbreak of the Gaza war in 2023, enabling the military to maintain operational readiness amid the ongoing conflict.
