Supreme Court receives anonymous threat letter, bars entry of law interns


Aug 18, agencies: The Delhi Police has beefed up the security at the Supreme Court after receiving an anonymous email which threatened to blow it up.

The Supreme Court has barred the entry of law interns to the court rooms for security reasons, according to media reports.

Earlier, Justice Dipak Misra, one among the judges who rejected Yakub Memon's mercy plea, had also received a threat letter.

The Home Ministry has been informed about the anonymous email and intelligence agencies are on high alert.

Confirming the reports, a senior police officer told Hindustan Times that they have received such an email , but there are chances that it could be a prank.

    ..this is the result of negative coverage by some media of hanging of a criminal..when politicians says some thing communal these media(some) will blow up the issue and make him to opologise or resign..But when media does this, they say its press freedom!!..Press is strong medium, it can effect society both way..recent coverage of hanging created negative perception against SC & present Govt..some of the Press & TV channel totally ignored that trial was run for nearly 15 years and ample chance to give every one to prove their innocence..But still some press headlines said 'and they hanged him'!!..and some news channel interviewed only people from accused side but not bothered to interview or report from victim side..Govt was right in sending showcause notices to some news channels..Hope common sense prevail in (some) TRP hungry media..

    If needs to install more 'police force' in buildings/temples/individuals..such anonymous letter pour-in automatically from no man's land.
