Tokyo shares open higher

Tokyo, Aug 27 (IANS): Tokyo shares skyrocketed on Thursday with its benchmark Nikkei index briefly soaring over 400 points following strong rebound in the overnight US stocks market.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 327.53 points, or 1.78 percent, from Wednesday to 18,704.36, Xinhua reported.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 36.86 points, or 2.49 percent, to 1,515.83.
