Bantwal: Case filed against Veda teacher who abused boy

Daijiworld Media Network - Bantwal (RJP)

Bantwal, Sep 11: A case has been registered at Vittal police station against the Veda teacher Shyam Sunder Shastri who abused a boy. The video of the Veda teacher seen beating and abusing the boy had gone viral on social media on the night of September 8.

The video also published in Daijiworld shows the teacher beating the boy and using wrong language with him at a Veda camp outside a temple in Vittal. The teacher asks the boy whether he was a 'Brahmin' or a 'Kshatriya'.

Sources said that the boy received the harsh punishment for having shown some indiscipline when the Veda teacher had gone out. People, who watched the little boy with a plaster on his fractured hand being beaten up by the inhuman teacher, condemned the incident and demanded action against the teacher. The boy begs the teacher to stop beating him, but the teacher continues the beating and his abusive language.

The incident is believed to have happened some months back during the summer holidays of children when the Veda classes were held. It is not yet known who filmed the video and why it was only made public so late only on Tuesday.

The complaint regarding the matter was filed by B K Sesappa, leader from Vittal Dalit Seva Samiti. Sesappa had urged the Vittal police to investigate the matter and take strict action against Shastri.

A complaint has also been given to women and children welfare department.

I have been against corporal punishment from the beginning. When same was done in missionary schools reported during previous months, all readers here did not support me saying students should be beaten to bring discipline. But now since this has happened in a Veda school everybody has started objecting. Whatever you are watching here always happens in missionary schools except no one has taken any video. I still condemn any sort of violence on kids. There are better ways to discipline kids than through beatings.

C K DAYANANDA, MANGALURU- You were right on spot. Most commentators are ignorant about the rationale behind the teacher Brahmin versus Kshtraiya comment. A Brahmin is supposed to be non violent and focus on learning scriptures. In this case either the kid did some mischief or some physical adventure that was not liked. However I do condemn the teacher's violent behavior on that disabled child. Coming back to some Guys comment about banning Vedas class, I want to let them know that they don't teach to kill in Vedas class !!!

I agree with u. There were so many bad and inhuman teachers when I was in schools. Scolding, insulting, beating etc including making remarks about parents etc was very common. They are so lucky those days there was no mobile to catch them.

It is Brahmins who have sacrificed most for this country and brahmins like Gokhale and Thilak gave right direction to the Indian freedom movement.
In Indian context, brahmins learn vedas to earn spiritual knowledge and kshatrias learn martial arts for protection.
Here Shri Shyam Prasad Shastri did not insult any community, but only asked the boy whether he is brahmin or kshatriya meaning whether he has come to learn veda [brahmin] or learn martial art [kshatria]
But, Sheshappa has unnecessary prejudice against brahmins and some of the commentators here are using abusive language against the veda teacher.
In India it has become a fashion for some people to insult brahmins.
The brahmins have taken all these insults and discrimination to their strides and are progressing within India and abroad.
People who insult should introspect and find out whether the insult heaped on brahmins has done any good for them personally and for the country.

In line with the call for ban on madrasas by vhp n bjp, i call upon all civilized societies to call for ban on veda schools as it promotes caste system n untouchability...its very much evident from the teachers statement...asking the student whether he is brahmin or kshatriya...rss bjp n bhp believes in untouchability n caste system..

Vedas donot teach us to kill others, rape, burn and vandalise properties like whats happening in the middle east. Nor it teaches us to betray the nation. Vedas doesnot espouse hatred towards people of other religion.

When things blow out of proportion need such treatment for some time and not in all occassions.

Only teacher themselves knows how Children's are behaving..not allowing to function class properly. Due to such punishments people today are climbed to a higher position in there career.
No teacher ever beat a student without any valid reason. Earlier they use to beat with a cane but now it reach to other's quickly due to fast technology.

We do not need to send our kids to school to get trained, children should not learn by force or harshness, If so, then you need to send your kids to him, If you have one...

Veda is for everyone to learn. One need not to be a Brahamin to learn Veda. Even a so called untouchable have a right to learn the Veda.

This Veda teacher should learn the Veda first and understand how to treat a small child with illness.

Who has given him an authority to beat someone else's child?

Send him to jail and let him clean up the jail toilets. Then only he will realize the difference between Brahamin and Kshatria.

    Hi,

I have also faced same without reason. But My parents took it strongly as they found marks of beating and the teacher was warned in a well great manner. Till today such an issue never occurred after that from her for any other student.

So you should be brought it to your parents concern buddy :)
