Udupi: Welfare association members demand settlement of ESI dues

Udupi, Oct 31: The common people welfare association members staged a protest in front of DC office Rajathadri, Manipal here on Friday October 30 demanding repayment of all amounts due by the ESI health care centers.























G A Kotteyyar president of common people welfare association said that nearly Rs 400 crore from a major ESI scandal was revealed recently. They will approach Supreme Court to seek justice against the misutilization of ESI amount and bring to light how much of the funds have been misused.

The fight for ESI is just the beginning. If the authorities of ESIC are not convinced about their request, the members of the welfare association will go on a massive protest in the days to come.

Demands to the central and state government and ESIC authorities are as follows:
1. Immediate implimentation of cashless treatment at member hospitals.

2. Immediate payment of hospital dues by the following member hospitals: KMC, Dr T M A Pai, Adarsh Hospital, Hi Tech Hospital. Total dues pending for the last six months by ESI authorities is Rs 60 crore.

3. ESI authority must settle the above dues within 7 days.

4. Immediate appointment of experienced doctors and nurses for ESI dispensaries.

5. ESI office staff must guide ESI members properly and their dues must be settled within the specified time.

6. Udupi, Manipal must have one ESI Hospital.

7. ESI total collection from the members, total distressment to the members and ESI office expenses and hospital expenses to be disclosed to all the members annually.

8. Immediate appointment of CBI probe on Mangaluru division ESI money scam.
