What is Succession Planning?

Majority of the small to medium organizations are managed by the promoters who run several key roles and manage it successfully. However, if something happens to them resulting in death or even permanent disability, such companies are at a serious risk of closing down. It is therefore critical to groom second level of management such that they are able to take over as and when required.

Succession planning is a process whereby an organization ensures that employees are recruited and developed to fill each key role within the company. Succession planning increases the availability of experienced and capable employees that are prepared to assume these roles as they become available. As your organization expands, loses key employees, provides promotional opportunities, and increases sales, your succession planning guarantees that you have employees on hand ready and waiting to fill new roles.

During this event the speaker will cover several issues related to Succession Planning and clarify several impacts of not having a proper plan.

The presentation will cover:

• Why is succession planning necessary?
• Succession Planning often considered a necessary evil. However, like death, it is inevitable.
• Most people in business skirt this subject and leave their company in a mess. It then takes a long time to clear the mess - if it can be cleaned up at all.
• How businessmen have done it successfully; and why some have failed.
• What are the approaches of businessmen in the East and the West, and how they differ?
• How succession planning sometimes fails, because of changed circumstances.
• When is the time to transition to professionals?
