Mangaluru: Bihar elections a lesson for all; PM should correct his mistakes: Poojary

Mangaluru, Nov 9: Senior Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary on Monday November 9 said that the defeat of BJP and its allies in the Bihar elections was a lesson to all, including the Prime Minister, all chief ministers and to himself, and that the PM should 'correct' his 'mistakes'.

Addressing a press meet at the district Congress office, Poojary said, "Bihar elections result is a lesson to everyone, not only to the Prime Minister but to the chief ministers of all states as well. It is a lesson for me also. It has taught a lesson right down to the panchayat level.

"People of Bihar have given a mandate on how politicians should behave. When you get power, it should not go to your head. Nation is important, not religion, caste or creed. Every vote cast by the people expects development and not the politics of hatred. In this regard, the people of Bihar have given their answer. People's movement started in Bihar and this is an addition to it," he said.

"This time Bihar has shown the way to the whole nation. It is sad if the policitians do not understand this. Today we want peace in the society. By creating hatred, nation will not survive. I congratulate and salute the people of Bihar," he said.

Referring to the Sangh Parivar and the BJP, he said, "The Sangh Parivar should understand and introspect why they have lost. If they do not, then BJP will be completely destroyed. BJP and Sangh people are always are giving statements such as 'go to Pakistan', 'they should be killed' and 'it is written in the Vedas that beef eaters should be killed' etc. Giving these kinds of wrong statements and creating confusion in the minds of the people will spoil peace in society. This should stop. Tolerance is very important. When media says you are going wrong, it is for your betterment. Correct your mistakes when you go wrong. When I was minister, when the media said I was wrong, I corrected myself. Today there is a need for you to correct your mistakes.

"Even now I am not saying the PM should give resignation - that is not the answer. Rather, he should correct his mistakes. I do not have hatred towards the Prime Minister, but his style of functioning is not right. When scientists, actors, and literary figures protested against him, why did he not call them and ask where he was going wrong. Tolerance is important, that is what they said. For development, tolerance is essential. If there is no peace in the country, how will you develop it? I want the government to run for five years. You (Modi) are the PM of this nation, and you are PM for me also. Protecting the democracy is your responsibility. Only then will the nation survive," Poojary said.

Addressing himself to Prime Minister Modi further, he said, "Farmers are committing suicide, but you have not given even a single statement on it. You have not visited a single farmer's house - what is wrong with you? Instead of solving the problems of farmers, you were giving speeches in Bihar. The people of Bihar have given the right answer to you. Many BJP and RSS leaders wanted this result in Bihar. Shatrugan Sinha is talking against you (Modi) and you are trying to remove him because he is talking the truth. He is a good person, I know him. When I was the MP, he also was MP. You came to power in the name of Ram. Do not do the work of Ravana," he added.

Moving on to state issues, he spoke on Yettinahole project and said, "What has happened to chief minister Siddaramaiah? We do not want Yettinahole project. Students have come to the roads and protested. Because of Sadananda Gowda and Veerappa Moily, the CM wants to sacrifice Karnataka. They are doing this for power, to gain votes. Give a permanent solution to the people, I know the CM is capable of doing it. We are all with you (CM Siddaramaiah). If you continue with Yettinahole project, Congress in Karnataka will see the same fate as BJP in Bihar.

"BJP leaders protesting here rather than going to Delhi. Let BJP take all its 19 MPs to Delhi and include Congress MPs too. Let them meet the PM and explain the situation to him. The PM is not talking on Mahadeyi issue and he has not given a single statement - why is he silent?" he added

Referring to the bribery allegations against Anjaneya's wife, without naming the minister, he said, "State BJP chief Prahlad Joshi is demanding resignation. I want to Joshi, did his brother not face allegations? Former CM Jagadish Shettar, Eshwarappa and many more ministers of the former state BJP cabinet faced allegations - but did they give resignation? What moral right do they have to demand resignation now? They should lead by example."

To a question on whether Congress would emulate the Bihar coalition model in other states too, he said, "Congress had 416 seats in the Lok Sabha when Rajiv Gandhi was the PM, and now we have come down to 44 seats. So there is a need to ponder."

Asked to comment on the recent Prashant Poojary murder case, he said, "When Hindu-Muslim clashes occur, cases are filed against minorities and backward communities like Billawas. Brahmins and Konkanis do not involve in such acts, and I congratulate their parents. We all need to learn from them. By fighting nothing is going to happen. We have to live in peace. I saw Prashant's mother crying on TV, and it feels bad when a boy from our community is murdered. We do not want hatred. I have been saying this from past 40 years."

Regarding the controversy surround the celebration of Tipu Jayanti, he said, "In Kollur Temple there is Tipu Sultan arati, so such a person cannot be anti-Hindu. When the British asked Tipu to pay Rs 3 crore, he sacrificed his sons. All the people of the kingdom collected Rs 3 crore for Tipu, but he did not take that money and instead gave away his sons. How can such a person be anti-national? Media needs to make people who are against Tipu understand the good work done by him."

he Bihar results should be a wake-up call for the BJP, which has been relegated to the third position in the new Assembly. The party's ego-bruising defeat in the state polls is its second straight loss after it was completely routed by the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party in the Delhi Assembly elections in February this year. But what contributed more to the BJP's humiliating defeat in Bihar were -the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's pitch for a re-look at the reservation policy, the Dadri lynching incident followed by polarising comments by the party's loudmouths, Union Minister VK Singh's callous statements on the Faridabad killing of the Dadri children and the rise in prises of essential commodities.

I am always a supporter of J Poojary! But I do not support him in the case of Tippu!!
According to documented history, and memory descended from ancestors, Tippu tortured and killed Christians, distributed young Christian women and girls to his soldiers and officers. Out of 80 thousand captured and driven to Srirangapatna only around 15 thousand returned after the death of Tippu! Such brutality person deserves no celebrations!

Jannanna, please stop this "Tipu Jayanti" and spend public money.
Nothing good will come out of it but only division and opposition.
As a politician, Check the problem areas and fix them.
Be it center or state, try to improve working for peoples need.
People didn't vote INC for celebrating Jayanti's.

Agreed that Bihar election result is lesson to everybody. Our PM Modi is capable and do wonder. But he should control them.Because of their provocative speeches, hatredness will not only spoil his reputation but also damage the India's image internationally.Modi is PM for entire nation not for RSS,BD,Rama Sene alone.I do agree with Poojary's statement in many ways.He has rightly said.PM should speak from his heart.Seat is not permanent but nation is very important.Mr.Amit Shah and PM alone cannot rule the country without the support of his party workers from the grass root level.Don't attack the food, eating habit, religion, type of worship. That is their choice.Nobody can dictate them.If it is the case of beef, why only beef, why not other animals? In the name of PM Modi, his party workers are giving wrong statements, there by destabilising the democracy, harmony etc.Wake up and correct your mistakes, where you have gone wrong.Still ample time is there is to mend your style of functioning.Best of luck.Give importance to farmers, poor people, common man rather than giving big big speeches.Let it be in action not in front of camera

Jaimini, i will agree on many of your points..But i dont think except daal price, reservation issue other things effected BJP prospectus in state election..BAGWAT's statement which is distorted effected but not as much to loose election..sorry to say, minorities dont vote BJP for their own reason, COW or no COW for the simple fact that whenever there is election, some section of media which i believe with some agenda goes crazy connecting every crime to BJP/RSS and alienating minorities further from BJP..it happened in DELHI election also..BJP almost lost when RJD aligned..YADAV community out of power because of BJP..Now, they had a chance to come back..this is crystal clear from the vote RJD got..BJP should understand that all states are not their strong hold..they have to play a junior partner in some state & coordination needed with partners, otherwise they will be singled out and become untouchable..

In Bihar JDU because of Nitish this list applies for so many states. If we want to see Congress in Center next time.. congress need to develop leaders like same caliber.. Nitish & Laalu did not defeat BJP in Bihar..It was Amith Shah & Modi co. who defeated BJP..

    1. Mr.Modi has forgotten that there are good leaders in BJP who can take good decisions in crisis time.Instead now,Party is being ruled by Modi and Shah only. That is quite dangerous. It will backfire one day..Now we saw the result. So many BJP state leaders are happy that BJP lost in Bihar..Thanks to Shah&Modi jugal bandi..

2.Swach Bharath..Every one was happy when PM announced Swach Bharat Abhiyan..Till today, Not a single toilet has been built !! No change.

3.Dal Price..Dal is part of our life..Without Dal..No Meal..When cost of Dal is Rs.200/kg, what common can do? He will show his anger while voting..That is what happened in Bihar

4.Beef Ban ..Suicide attempt by BJP..How can you prevent someone from eating their food ? It is their choice,People have freedom to eat what they want.

5.Cow Theft : Govt could not control stealing of cows from poor people's shed..So,It gave a chance to BD,Sene,or Moral police to take action..at the end, birth of moral policing led to communal violence.

5.Foreing tours: already talked lot about that..

6.Provocative speech by Swamis & Sadhwis : why do you alway target these film stars..Let them do whatever they want..If they do any anti national work, law is there to question..Go and question them legally..Don't give provocative speech and demoralise your own party supporters..

I still have faith in Mr.Modi..I know that he is capable of building strong India..but he should give importance to internal things too..I don't expeect Nitish Kumar to rule India..Who ruled Bihar for 10 years..Nothing changed..Now one more renewal for 5 years..I don't think he can do wonder there.Anyway Best of Luck to him and thanks too for giving wake up call to Mr Modi&Shah co..

    Lesson for all is:
    1/ focus on building economy..
    only economy
    how?
Stop talking start working.. Central/state should together...
Work on Peoples agenda.. and not their own...
Word called CORRUPTION should be Writes off from Indian dictionary...
If anyone is caught red handed be it a minister: Bureaucrats: police or other govt official..they are all same..
SO, catch them on the spot and LYNCH them.
as usual the LAW will take its own course later ...
expose the name sof associated with : Dawood: shakeel: Raajan..
all ministers.. police.. Bureaucrats..all govt officials..customs .revenue intelligence also Bankers ..
    No exception..
    India needs progress: growth: justice..
Unearth and unblock the hidden treasures..gold from under the floors of religious places..
Now focus on ECONOMY ECONOMY and only Economy.
    build MSML industrial belts..arks.corridors...
    FDI . in retail.
Make in India and make it happen in India ASAP.
No more religion.. hatred.. intolerance no more.
now all should simply stop talking and start working just like during the EMERGENCY ERA.. WITH total discipline.. serve the nation..

The Modi/Shaw brains thought that they can very easily brainwash the people of Bihar with the elaborate promise of crores and crores of Rs for development, but it was terribly misfired.

Wait for the results from other States. I did name the BJP as
Bhart Joker's party at first, then again in a few times named "Bhart Jungle party". Now the electorate can fully realize that it was truly prophetical as a joker's party.

Whether in Bihar-New Delhi-Varnasai or in Karnataka, none of the local veteran BJP leaders had their big pictures at the roadside, but only two pictures were visible. They were Mr. Modi and Amith Shaw.

So, 85% blame of this tragic failure of BJP all around India must be taken painfully by them.
