Mangaluru: Statements on cow issue only for vote bank: 'Gau Katha' narrator Faiz Khan

Mangaluru, Nov 28: Faiz Khan from Raipur, a strong believer in the protection of cows and full-time speaker on 'Gau Katha' (parables on cow), on Saturday November 28 said that there were misconceptions about beef consumption and that neither the Quran nor Prophet Mohammed encouraged it. He also said that all statements on the issue were political and meant for nothing but vote bank, with no connection to either Islam or Sanatan Dharma.

He was in the city to narrate 'Gau Katha' at Sanghaniketan. The programme was organized by Yuva Brigade.

Addressing a press meet prior to the programme, he introduced himself and said, Basically I am from Raipur in Chattisgarh. My parents were teachers. I completed my double MA in Hindi literature and political science and did my MPhil in political science. I later worked as guest lecturer in various colleges.

The novel 'Ek Gai ki Atmakatha' written by Girish Pankaj inspired me a lot. From three years I have been giving lectures on the importance of cow. I have already given 200 lectures with 25 'Gau Kathas. Out of these, 200 were organized by Muslim committees.

"I celebrate Eid and Bakrid by feeding fodder to the cows. There should be cow milk parties in various places. Muslim committees have already organized such parties in 80 places," he added.

"In my book 'Gai Aur Islam', I have tried to expose certain misconceptions. Nowhere in Islam is beef consumption compulsory. This needs to be understood. Even non-vegetarianism is not compulsory. A Muslim can also be a pure vegetarian.

"Prophet Mohammed used to eat meat of goat but not of cow. His favourite food was lauki (bottlegoard) and various fruits. There was no non-veg item in his list of favourite foods. He ate meat, but only as an option and not out of compulsion. Even in Mecca cows are not sacrficed on Bakrid," he said.

"Islam came to India through Moinuddin Chishti of Ajmer. Even in Ajmer Dargah only sweet rice is served. There is no cruelty in Islam, only compassion," he added.

He also said that in the Hadees (sayings and deeds of Prophet Mohammed), the Prophet said that the 'milk of cow is health, ghee is medicine and meat is disease.

"The statements which have been given on cow are all political. They have no connection with either Islam or the Sanatan Dharma. Those who make such statements only of vote bank. Yuva Brigade has done a good job in organizing this event," he said.

Stating that there was no intolerance in the country as claimed, he said, "Here in this programme, the main speaker is one wearing a skullcap, who does Namaz five times a day and fasts 30 days a year. Does this show intolerance? The statements on intolerance are all politically motivated.

"People have misconceptions about the Quran and the Vedas. This is because the British misinterpreted the Vedas and said cows were slaughtered during the Vedic period. This is false. They misintepreted the Vedas in order to rule India. In the Vedas there is a concept where cow is offered as a form of gift to a guest," he said.

"One should have discipline to follow the right path. When a youth is guided properly, he will go in the right path, but if he is misguided, there will be Naxals, ISIS or Hizbul Mujahideen," he added.

Commenting on the celebration of Tipu Jayanti, he said, "The present state government celebrated Tipu Sultan only for politicial benefit and not out of admiration for Tipu. We know that Tipu was a fanatic ruler but he too never encouraged cow slaughter.

"It was Robert Clive who started cow slaughter in 1716. At that time, Hyder Ali was ruling Mysore kingdom, and he issued a notice to chop off the hands of those who slaughter cows. Even Babar was against cow slaughter," he said.

"Holy cow is the root of India. Political parties cannot solve the issue of cow slaughter. It is a matter of 'dil' (heart) and not 'dal' (party)," he added.

He also alleged that multi-national companies were supporting cow slaughter for manufacture of leather and other goods.

"Let alone cow, even if eating chicken hurts your neighbour, it shoud be stopped. Gujarat has become a model state by banning liquor and beef, soon Bihar also will implement ban on liquor.

"If you want to make Muslims happy, do not give meat but give them education, especially to Muslim girls, and healthcare, and bring them to the mainstream. Alcohol and meat will not do any good to them," he said.

Talk

Delivering the talk on 'The cry of cow - A parable' later, he reiterated what he said before and elaborated on the importance of the cow in Indian culture.

"Indian culture is based on the cow. Even the invaders who conquered India did not indulge in cow slaughter. Cow is the only entity that unites Hindus and Muslims. The invader from Afghanistan Babar, who was also the founder of the Mughul empire, believed in the holiness of cow. He had told his son that until no cow was slaughtered in his kingdom, it would be safe and prosperous. Since ancient times, India was a country of prosperity and zero poverty only because of the cow," he said.

Hinting at celebraties who have spoken out on intolerance, he said, "During ancient times people had food and clothing because of cow. People today who promote cow slaughter have no clothes on screen. India has always been a tolerant country, but today people who say India is intolerant are the one who expose themselve on screen."

He further said, "Hinduism is a universal religion. When Swami Vivekananda went to Chicago to participate in the Parliament of the World's Religions, to humiliate him, Bhagavad Gita was placed below the holy books of all other religions. But Swami Vivekananda interpreted this in a unique way and said, as Bhagavad Gita was at the base, it is the base of all religions and therefore the base of the universe.

"Cow teaches us the best food habits which we need to practice in our lives. By consuming meat we become prone to many diseases, but by drinking cow's milk and practicing Indian food habits, one can llive a long, healthy life," he added.

Earlier in the programme, the members of Yuva Brigade welcomed him by symbolically placing a skullcap on his head.

Co-convenor of Yuva Brigade Satish Holla welcomed the gathering. Chakravarthi Sulibele of Jago Bharath, Yuva Brigade district convenor Naresh Shenoy and others were present.

I do agree with this versatile speaker. In India, this divide and rule policy was adopted by the British to rule and loot India. Hindus and Muslims were living together for centuries. The same divide and rule strategy has been inculcated and inherited by our Politicians to retain power and to loot the country. The problem is one family wants to rule the country and the entire funds are with them. It is for sure that no religion preaches Crime and destruction. it is our Politicians instigate people for their benefits. We need to spread education, basic needs and healthcare to all, and need to reach the remote places too. A good example is the development of North east is well thought by the present Government. it was totally neglected. Let all of us contribute our might and see the country develops, generates employment and wealth to all with good infrastructure. It is for us to be tolerant and learned and think of better future for our kith and kin. Let all of us try to build a great nation with peace and prosperity. Let us be Indian rather than identifying ourselves by religion, caste, creed and sects. The best thing is that let there be no mention of caste and religion in all the application forms. 'Together we can and we shall' build a strong nation and a pleasant atmosphere for all Indians.

I don't agree with this kind of lectures where one want to promote peace by protecting only cows.
The point is that are free to have the food of our choice.?
It is not the society or Hindu's decide what I cook in my house just because they believe that cow is God.
The animal that provided milk to a requirement of 20 tons of milk at Anand Amul factoy is a cow.
That cow gets older by ever year.
Every day more than 1000 cows get matured or reach a date of expiry from giving milk.
You cannot say or imply that cows should be slaughtered just because you say that it is your God,then you should revise the constitution.

    Brief introduction of Faiz Khan

Barely 50 km from Dadri, in Delhi’s Paharganj area, Faiz Khan, national head of RSS-backed Muslim Rashtriya Manch’s Gau Raksha Prakostha, believes the “answer to the problem lies in educating Muslims”. Khan, 34, calls himself a gau bhakt and claims to spread the message of cow protection through his talks in Delhi and neighbouring states.

RSS leader Indresh Kumar is also the margdarshak (guide) of the RSS affiliate Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM), which has published a booklet, “Gai aur Islam” (cow and Islam) — a compilation of articles by Muslim religious leaders highlighting the importance of cow in the religion.

So it is self explanatory why is he wearing 'Topi' and giving lectures.

At the outset I agree with the speaker that one can be pure vegetarian and yet can be a Muslim. I also agree that for majority of Indians following Hindu faith Cow is considered as sacred holy so to respect the sentiments of Hindus Muslims can avoid eating Cow but surely they can eat other beef like Buffalo. Having said that still in states like Jammu Kashmir and North Eastern state and state of Kerala Majority of people eat beef including cow meat which is also acceptable. But the intention of organizers of the program is to not very honest they trying project that person as Muslim clergy by giving skull cap. For the information of readers I would like to tell you that wearing cap is not a must for a Muslim it is mere a way of dress. Further if sates ban beef today tomorrow it may ban mutton as goat is also giving milk people drink that milk as well. Consensus rather than confrontation is the only way for Coexistence

Macaulay's letter to the British parliament is proof of how bedazzled they were at India's opulence and high morality and how they schemes to distort history and create a country of ppl who are ignorant of their glorious past. The Aryan invasion is one more of their myths, read a fully evidenced scientific study ' the invasion that never was'.the need of the hour is to forget these differences of Hindu,Muslim,Christian and be an Indian first only then can we make a reality check free from bias.Truth alone triumphs, truth may seem bitter at the moment, it takes unbiased intelligent approach to get to the truth. Firstly I would like to point out that the present form of Hinduism is of vedic culture which was brought in by the Aryans to bring in caste system to rule over the Adivasis and Dravidians.Ancient people in India used to do Nature and Spirit worship which is still followed in DK district, before the advent of Hinduism people used to follow Buddhism in India this a recorded fact if you look at the two ancient temple in Mangalore itself i.e. th Kadri temple and Mangaldelvi Temple during those period there was no caste system and everyone was treated equally, though buddhists never ate any form of meat they never tried to impose their beliefs on others or control them.

Well, the fact is that it is not a must for all Muslims to have the meat of a cow and beef is NO way an Islamic food and it is NO way a must for Muslims.

In Islam eating meat of certain animals, birds and fish is Halal and that does not mean that all Muslims should be non-vegetarians. Muslims do eat vegetarian as well and enjoy what is made halal for them. But for the sake of political gain, the political parties play on the issues of beef and cow slaughter etc. Myself being a Muslim, I am fine with a ban on cow slaughter…, but why only cow? Is it only cow which feels pain or should be protected from killing? Why don’t these parties start a campaign to protect HUMAN? Why we kill human and why we kill other animals for our own benefit? It is true that the way some people treat the cow while transporting & killing is really pathetic and this should be stopped by any means. Any inhuman and cruelty against any animal and also against humanity should be stopped.

Which Quran he is talking about?
Pork, being an unclean animal, as the Jewish people avoid eating, the Muslims have followed that.

If the animal is dead by fall, suffocation, if any animal offered as a sacrifice, the Muslims are prohibited to eat that.
They are allowed to eat only halal meat, through cutting the head of the animals, bleed them completely. They are prohibited to eat meat from the dead animals, but every animal must be killed. Consumption of the blood is strictly prohibited. However, now many Muslims are eating frozen meat in many countries based on the label that it was
    "halal" meat.

    Any specific reference that Prophet
Mohammed opposed the eating of beef in Quran? When related to the issue of food in Quran, hardly many references, but in heaven fruits-milk-honey etc are offered, pure vegetarian dish.

Mr. Khan, you are trying to get some political mileage out of this beef issue through misleading the audience.

    Mr. Faiz Khan,
Please don't give false statements about Islam, if you don't have knowledge of Islam its better to keep quiet instead saying which is very far from truth.
Your Point "One should have discipline to follow the right path. When a youth is guided properly, he will go in the right path, but if he is misguided, there will be Naxals, ISIS or Hizbul Mujahideen," why don't you mention RSS, BAJRANGDAL, SHIV SENA ???
Once I saw in Pictures Shreeman SHARAN POMPWELL, I am sure its all about BJP Motivated Speeches.
BJP Lost in BIHAR now they are using new Strategy in KARNATAKA to Fool Public.

I have seen his program this is totally against Islam and not at all connected to Islam it is only connected to RSS people not Hindus brothers he talked, about fasting he said a brahamin came to molvi and gave a jar of cows milk molvi drank the milk by seeing this molvis colleague told him how can you leave the fasting before time molvi told his colleague he can break the fast but he can't the break the heart of brahamin who gave him cows milk which is not true, he is from RSS background he should have said this in front of the Muslims the scene would have been different and request yuva brigade to invite Zakir naik or any other.

Now, for the first time, now a new messenger telling that Prophet Mohammed was against beef eating.

Bihari's teach a lesson to BJP but lessen learnt by RSS.

Conclusion : BJP is a front for RSS's political lust.

    What an irony..,
self proclaimed patriots renting a muslim to pursue their nationalist cause..., that too at m'lore's sanghniketan.., the 2nd most powerful & important place after nagpur.
