Actor Sanjay Dutt to be released from jail on Feb 27

Mumbai, Jan 6 (NDTV): Actor Sanjay Dutt, jailed in an arms case related to the 1993 Mumbai blasts, will be released on February 27.

The 56-year-old will be walking free from Yerwada jail in Pune a few days ahead of his official date of release. Sources say the reprieve has been granted on grounds of good behaviour.

Last year, a petition filed by former Supreme Court judge Markandey Katju in 2013 seeking pardon for Sanjay Dutt was rejected. Sources had said that Governor Vidyasagar Rao rejected the petition on the recommendation of the Maharashtra home department, which said it would set a bad precedent as the actor's conviction was confirmed by the Supreme Court.

The actor's frequent breaks from jail have earlier been criticised as evidence of VIP treatment. Between May 2013 and 2014, Dutt spent over 118 days out of prison.

Sanjay Dutt was found guilty in 2013 of acquiring illegal weapons from those involved in the deadly 1993 attacks in Mumbai in which 257 people were killed, and hundreds injured. He was sentenced to six years in jail in 2007; he served 18 months but then was out on bail, fighting the conviction until a court in March 2013 ordered him back to jail in Pune.

In 2007, Dutt was cleared of conspiracy charges in the attacks but found guilty of illegal possession of an AK-56 rifle and a pistol, which he claimed he required to protect himself and his family during the rioting that erupted in Mumbai after a series of bombs exploded at the city's landmarks.

In fact, because of his vices or uncontrolled lifestyle, Sanju Baba suffered a lot in life. He must have already regretted the past and will live in peace & harmony with his family and in the society for rest of his life.
    Wishing him good days ahead.

Good news, why Sanjay should wait till Feb 27th, better to release him now itself. Because most his Jail term he had spent outside and even in the Jail he is free for everything.

Looking at this case, one can imagine that anything can happen under the present governance.

Just to cite an example, a 50-year-old man in northern India had been killed in a mob lynching allegedly over rumours that his family had been storing and consuming beef at home.

Most of the worst CONGiss Politicians along with their entire supporters have been forced to retire by majority of Good people of India but by default 44 Members along with little low percentage of their blind die hard supporters are still left out…. Hopefully they will be thrown to dust bin in next Lok Sabha Election for sure!!!!

When will Salman replace Sanjay's cell? What a shame! Someone should calculate the actual time he spend in jail. He was accused and convicted weapons like AK-47 in relation to Mumbai Bomb Attacks (equivalent to a terrorist act). Most of the times he was out on parole and now getting released early for good behavior. Ok, we look forward to his release on 27th February. This is a very important date and development for all of us to note!!!!!.
