Fit and fine, Pawar discharged from hospital

Pune, Jan 27 (IANS): Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar was discharged from a hospital here on Wednesday. Doctors said all his medical tests were normal.

Pawar spent a little more than three days at the Ruby Hall hospital after he complained of exhaustion and breathlessness. He appeared cheerful and rejuvenated on his discharge.

Doctors attending to him have advised complete rest to the 76-year-old for a week, but he shot back saying he couldn't sit in one place for too long.

"I have tours lined up for the next two months without a single day off... Let's see how I can take rest. I hate sitting in one place too long," Pawar told reporters.

He is expected to go to Mumbai later by a special helicopter, party officials said.

After persistent rumours of his "death", an amused Pawar released a video on Tuesday showing him in the hospital room chatting away happily with his family and party leaders.

Later, he tweeted news of his good health and expressed his gratitude to people and party activists for their concern.
