Mangalore, Sep 20: Minister of higher education D H Shankarmurthy has issued suspension order to the in-charge principal of University College Hampankatta here, on Wednesday September 19.

According to informed sources the minister for higher education Shankarmurthy has issued the suspension order to in-charge principal Seetharam Poojary for ‘responding arrogantly to some of the queries of the minister’.

Minister clarified that the suspension order which was issued by him, had no connection to the incident of the principal denying allotment of the college auditorium for a talk on ‘1857 freedom struggle’ organised by ABVP and the subsequent protests by capt Ganesh Karnik.

University vice-chancellor Prof K M Kaveriappa, who received instructions form the minister in this regard, said that he is out of station and can take action on the matter only after his return from his tour.
