Debate important issues like drought, not watch controversy: Kagodu

Daijiworld Media Network-Bengaluru (RJP)

Bengaluru, Feb 28: Legislative Assembly speaker Kagodu Thimmappa on Saturday urged the legislators to indulge in meaningful discussion of important issues instead of wasting time by indulging in unnecessary debates like the chief minister Siddaramaih’s wristwatch controversy.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Thimmappa said Assembly sessions are held to discuss important problems and find solutions for the same. Hence watch controversy type of issues should not be raised and time wasted. He appealed to the legislators to focus on issues like drought and drinking water problems prevailing in several districts of the state.

Kagodu also asked the legislators to be present during the session. He stressed on compulsory attendance by them. He said he was not happy with sessions in 2015 when they failed to complete 60 days. “I hope that this year we will complete at least 60 days." Kagodu said.

"We are here to serve people. We should debate issues which are useful to people and then the government should act accordingly. I have tried my best to hold the proceedings to the best of my ability. Still I am not happy about it. Government has its own plans. I am an optimistic person. I want the present session to be meaningful," Kagodu added.

The session will be held between February 29 and March 5. On the first day the governor will address the joint session of both Houses.

Kagodu revealed that four pending bills will be introduced in the session. JD(S) MLA K Gopalaiah will table a private member’s bill on the revival of HMT factory under ‘Make in India’ scheme. As many as 818 questions and 30 notices under Rule 351 have been received.

Sri Kagodu, I appreciate what you have mentioned. coz CM's watch has taken a toll on at least 5 to 06 days valuable assembly time. Let our Legislators think and act on water scarcity, farmers welfare, other important issues. But why would they bother about all this, coz it does not even matter to them all.!

Why should the legislators discuss the common man's issues or work related issues. If such subjects are introduced in the Assembly and passed, they will be forced to implement or work on it. Better pass your time talking on unwanted matters like Watches and so on.

Just like in the Western / European countries where defaulting ministers are dragged to the court to make their voices heard, so too it should be with our country. It is necessary that the minister(s) appointed by the power of the ballot as a representative should be reprimanded and made accountable and common public should have ultimate supremacy and take them to task if they are incapable of providing immediate solutions to decade-old-problem lying in the lurch. Our good-for-nothing ministers enjoy with tax payers money and moreover subsidies granted by the Government... for what? They don't deserve it. They are getting fattened and lavishly enjoying at the exchequer's money without any shame / remorse. Such ministers should be severely taken to task and it should be an eye-opener for other lazy lousy ministers not to take the common public for granted.

See how we are intelligent to comments but while voting we vote either this chor or another chor but we do not vote for honest person. And also we are proud to say see he is watching pron film in assembly. Because he can not discuss in assembly since he is not aware of the discussion, other than pron film.
