Former FIFA head Blatter paid $3.8 mn in salary in 2015


Zurich, Mar 18 (IANS): Revealing its president's salary for the first time, world soccer governing body FIFA said it paid former head Sepp Blatter $3.8 million in salary in 2015.

FIFA on Thursday also said that the organisation lost $122 million in 2015 to record its first deficit since 2002 mainly because the rising costs of battling corruption scandal, Xinhua reported.

FIFA's total income in 2015 stands at $1.152 billion and expenses reach $1.274 billion with $61.5 million spent on "legal matters".

"The unprecedented events that occurred in 2015 have impacted upon FIFA's financial results, however the organisation's healthy reserves have allowed it to weather the storm," the Swiss-based federation said in a statement.
