Mangalore, Sep 28: A state-level seminar and exhibition on tourism, on the occasion of World Tourism Day, was organized by Srinivas Institute of Hotel Management in association with Vijayalakshmi Institute of Hospitality Sciences at College premises here on Thursday September 27.

Speaking at the inaugural function Mani Madhavan Nambiar, assistant general manager of Bakel Resorts Development Corporation in Kasargod said that insufficient rooms and paucity of human resources are the utmost challenges faced by the tourism industry in the country even while it is growing in tremendous pace. 

He further said that tourists now-a-days wish to see all the places of the country they visit, than just sight seeing them.

The hospitality given by the city to the tourist is excellent, and therefore the city has become a brand in the industry, he said.

S Dheerendra, regional manager of State Bank of India said that the motto of the service industry is to please the guests.

He further said the best advertisement is a satisfactory note and the word of gratitude of satisfaction, he added.

A Srinivas Rao, vice-president of A Shama Rao Foundation administered the oath-taking ceremony.

On this occasion an exhibition was also organized by the students. It featured still models of well-known tourist destinations in various Indian states and in Bhutan.

A Raghavendra Rao, president of the foundation, D Shashikala R Rao, secretary, Prof Anil Kumar, principal of Vijyalakshmi Institute of Hospitality Sciences, Vinayaraj M, principal in-charge of Srinivas College of Hotel Management and others were present on the occasion.
