Ronaldo in Portugal squad for Bulgaria, Belgium friendlies

Lisbon, March 19 (IANS): Portugal football team head coach Fernando Santos has announced the squad for the upcoming friendlies against Bulgaria and Belgium next April 25 and 26 respectively, in which Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo came at the top of the players' list.

The roster on Friday also included Benfica's 18-year-old Renato Sanches for the first time after he earned a regular place with the national squad, reports Efe.

However, Santos could not call up Atletico Madrid's Tiago Mendes and Monaco's Joao Moutinho and Fabio Coentrao, as all three are sidelined for injuries.

Santos stressed that although the Euro 2016 in France approaches, the lineup announced on Friday is definitely not final.

The squad:

Goalkeeping: Rui Patricio (Sporting Lisbon), Eduardo (Dinamo Zagreb) and Anthony Lopes (Lyon).

Defence: Bruno Alves (Fenerbahce), Cedric Soares (Southampton), Jose Fonte (Southampton), Eliseu (Benfica), Pepe (Real Madrid), Raphael Guerreiro (Lorient), Ricardo Carvalho (Monaco) and Vieirinha (Wolfsburg).

Midfield: Adrien Silva (Sporting Lisbon), Joao Mario (Sporting Lisbon), William Carvalho (Sporting Lisbon), Renato Sanches (Benfica), Danilo Pereira (Porto), Bernardo Silva (Monaco) and Andre Gomes (Valencia).

Attack: Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Danny (Zenit Saint Petersburg), Eder (Lille), Nani (Fenerbahce), Ricardo Quaresma (Besiktas) and Rafa Silva (Sporting Braga).
