Cabinet reshuffle only after drought situation ends-Siddaramaiah

Daijiworld Media Network-Mysuru (RJP)

Mysuru, Apr 23: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday said that the cabinet will only be reshuffled after the drought situation is over in the state.

Siddaramaiah was speaking to reporters at Mandakalli airport near here.

Some aspirants who wanted to be inducted into the cabinet have been anxiously waiting for the occasion of reshuffle. The proposed reshuffle has been postponed several times since December citing various reasons. Recently it was said that once the elections were over in 5 states, the CM will take up the reshuffle. Siddaramaiah and state Congress chief Dr Parameshwar had made many trips to New Delhi for the sake of consultation regarding the reshuffle. But every time they said they had been to New Delhi for other reasons. Dissidents and aspirants too had formed their own groups to put pressure on the high command and state leadership.

Siddaramaiah also said that he will not be going to New Delhi this time for any consultation regarding the reshuffle and instead will be concentrating on the management of drought situation.

He also said that Congress government will not celebrate its third year in office due to the severe drought in the state.

On the issue of demand for Dalit CM, he said a Dalit should become the chief minister of the state one day. But he refused to comment on the call given by former MP H Vishwanath on this matter.

Referring to the state’s decision to file appeal in Supreme Court in the cases related to former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, he said denotification cases were not filed after Yeddyurappa became the state BJP president, but much before that when he was the chief minister. “Everyone is the same under the law. There is no personal vendetta here.” he stated.

Siddaramaiah revealed that the government has formed four region-level teams, led by ministers T B Jayachandra, V Srinivas Prasad, H K Patil and R V Deshpande, to monitor drought relief works in the state.

“I have already visited seven drought-hit districts and two more tours — from April 25 to 27 and May 2 and 3 — have been planned to assess the situation,” Siddaramaiah said.

Karnataka, like large parts of India, is in the grip of severe drought. As per newspaper and Met Dept. reports, this is the worst drought in our state, in the past 40 years.

All our elected representatives should concentrate on tackling this crisis situation, instead of hankering after power, position, privileges etc.

This is certainly not the time to demand ministerial berths, CMship to a Dalit candidate etc. Let all the elected representatives sincerely carry out their duties & responsibilities. This is the reason we have elected them, in the first place. All other things are incidental and are sure to follow, in the case of the good performers, to whatever religion or caste they may belong. In any case, God's blessings will surely be upon those who work for the welfare of the poor, the suffering, the underprivileged. That would be the greatest gift that anyone can expect.

Be strong leader like modi jayalalitha karunanidhi mamatha mayawati rajshekar reddy. All will obey quietly their decisions like a pet. If anyone tries to do mischief then gone case. No one has guts to raise their tail in front of strong leader. Just see how rajshekar reddy controlled his state in andra. No one has courage to oppose ysr. Once he dies in accident all hell broke loose. Andra got divided.

Whom is this person fooling around??. He thinks people of Karnataka doesn't understand his party's internal politics. That is in open streets, day by day senior leaders openly pressing for change in leadership.
Siddana has been denied meeting with top brass as many as dozen of times till now. What kind of party is this, which doesn't allow a state CM to meet party top brass. Very shame. What is the value of this person in the party??. If his party leaders doesn't support him, then who else will support??. What can we expect him to do??.
This would be a blessing in disguise for opposition parties. They are waiting for the next move.

Better not to delay reshuffle of the cabinet since this is means to weed out the bad and plant the performers in the ministry.
